Is choice between auto and manual a preference related to age?

I found myself shifting my AUTO benz E320 , 3 to drive . It was a sign !!!! I needed a Vette .
Only 25% of newer vettes are Manuals .

mid 50's ... decided to buy a C6 about 4 minutes after driving my son's '01 Z06. Found an '07 LT3 coupe (all the old man comforts) and was an M6. It is the very first manual I have ever owned (wife had an auto C3 (1977) BK ... before kids).
Love it but it IS my fun car ... hasn't seen a wet street since I got it, only comes out on those great driving days / nights

Sixty Five years old. And, love my manual. Also, I feel sorry for the guys that admit that they bought an auto to please/placate the Wife.

Burning Brakes
Had both types of transmissions in various cars, sticks are a blast but the vette is an auto and suites the need for now...not age related more a choice of the car and not trans type at the time.

I drove stick shifts for more than 60 years, can still drive one but don't unless I _have_ to.
I'm 70, was racing Porsches back before most people even knew what a Porsche was. Ditto for BMWs.
I have ZERO desire to go back to a standard shift in anything.
I have more than 300,000 miles in Porsches, more than 600,000 miles in Corvettes... have put more than 4,000 miles on my '07 in the past six weeks... leaving on another 1,000+ mile trip first week of May.
We doan need no stinkin' stick shift.

I'm 29 and my 2012 GS is my first manual. Personally I just couldn't see owning an automatic Corvette, it just seems wrong to me. I figured that if any car was going to get me to learn manual it'd be a 'vette. The only exception to this would be if a future model has a DCT, then maybe I'd think about it.

Crap, I play tennis with guys in their 70's and they can move around the court just fine......and could certainly drive a manual!.

I'm 66 and on my 6th Vette. They have all been manuals.
I would rather drive than ride.
O for the record I have a bad left knee, but it does not stop me from getting a stick, it only makes getting in -out a little more difficult!
