I got one. Handed it to Tommy to install when I picked up my car.

A must have for me the way I shift. I don't want to always get on it. I choose to go from 2nd to 4th instead.

My C5 had a skip shift that drove me nuts and my wife always wanted to get the shifting business over with as soon as poxssible and ended up doing a 1-4 shift on hills all the time just about stalling out. So I put in a bypass. My C6 is a dream by comparison and I am aware of the skip shift only about twice a year.

I agree. I thought of getting it also but after I got my Z06 I could not see the need for it. Some of you must be driving your cars like grannies if you need to defeat CAGS. If you drive the car like it was meant to be driven you should not have a problem.

Cags elliminator was the first thing I did to my C5 and same for my C6. Those that tell you you're driving like a ***** don't know how to install the device. I installed mine ($25) before the smart fuse trick was known. If I needed to install today, I would be willing to give the blown fuse method a try and save $23. Sounds to me like it would work just fine.

From the C5 generation through the C6 generation, I've had seven cars over the past 14-15 years and it has been so rare that the skip shift has ever been an issue for me. I just don't see a need to change or defeat, the feature. Sometimes if your just taking it easy, it is kind of cool that the technology works as well as it does.

I hear ya talking. I was in traffic in a dealers car and I was not aware of what was actually going on. I thought that I could not shift worth a chit.

Tommy just called me and said that my car would be in this thursday or friday. When I test drove the manual cars I did not like the car forcing me to go from 1st to 4th. I am thinking on having it done at the dealer before I even pick it up.

Just have Tommy do it! It's a GM part I think... for off road use only, haha.

It is definitely worth installing a cags eliminator or blown fuse, & ignore the bs about not driving it hard enough; High rpm's & redline is fine when the engine's hot, but high rpm's aren't good when it's cold;

With a cold engine you want 1st-2nd gear for the first couple mins, keeping rpm's low(but don't lug it) until the pistons, barrels, oil, coolant, etc warm up. Differential cooling between piston rings & the cyclinder linings creates wear; pistons getting hot & expanding faster than the cyclinder liners, resulting in scrape & compression loss over time. OEM's also recommend to start driving right after start up, as this warms up an engine more quickly than letting it idle until warm up, & they all recommend low rpm's until the motor's warm.

A previous post about trying to make a quick U-turn in traffic & getting forced into 4th instead of 2nd, is reason enough to defeat the skip-shift.

Tommy will never see the car (drop ship to AZ) but it's a good thought.

with all of that, including the part about the best way to warm up an engine is to drive it easy vs. extended idling.

Previous owner modified the car to eliminate the skip shift scenerio and I'm glad he did or I would have. In slow moving traffic you don't want to be forced into 4th gear all the time. As many have said, when pushing the car a bit you would not have an issue but under some circumstances it is nice to be able to shift into 2nd/3rd gear.

I've had my 2012 GS Vert for less than a month and already installed it. If you can't get it up in the air later, have them do it.
