GaussianMist, when you look at this up close, does it look or more importantly feel like it's etched or scratched into the paint or is it simply a paint transfer? Most paint transfers will come off with chemicals such as "enamel reducer" or even WD-40. I would approach this problem as follows:

1. Wash the area (Don't skip this step)
2. WD-40 or rubbing alcohol or enamel reducer or gasoline etc.
3. Machine polishing

what the guys said.

zaino does not remove anything...it contains no solvents.. its a polymer sealant compound that layers.

Excellent idea. They should have matching micro fiber towels.

"Description: Z-PC is a great cleaner for preparation of the Zaino system - by hand or using a buffer. Z-PC by hand will remove minor scratches, swirls, and other blemishes. When used by rotary machine in a professional environment, Z-PC has enough polishing ability to remove moderate swirls and scratches, yet finishes down flawless and so glossy that multiple step surface correction is not required. Since Z-PC contains no oils or fillers, you can apply your favorite protectant as soon as you wipe away the Z-PC residue. For the owner/enthusiast using a random orbital buffer, Z-PC with a polishing pad will safely and effectively correct minor surface imperfections."

this is why I dont park the vette anywhere but my house (almost every car I have previously owned has had some jackass do exactly that in a parking lot and its always been on the passenger side)

solvent like gumout or rubbing alcohol will take it out and then just remember to rewax.

Maybe works via buffer but not by hand.

As someone else mentioned, USE A CLAY BAR. I've taken paint off a few cars, with just a clay bar. This should be your first course of action, bar none. The clay bar will help to "lift" the transfered paint off. Everything else, will be breaking it down along with your clear coat (hopefully just to that level). if the clay bar doesn't work (i assume it'll get 90% of it off with ease), then move up to a compound. Heck, i'd probably even try scratch-x by hand, before i went up to a compount with a buffer. But i just had to post to second the clay bar!

Ahh... done! No more visible yellow paint on the car. It was a combination of rubbing compound and clay bay... went over it several times. You can't tell it even got a scratch.

Note to self... use daily driver when parking at hotel casinos.

Thanks everyone!

Well, i got impatient. I tried the clay bar and that took just a little bit of the paint off.I then took a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol to a very small section and off it came. After removing paint with Q-tip and rubbing alc. I clay barred and Ice polish till tomorrow then some wax.

Try some Meguiars Ultimate Compound first. It is gentle, but effective.
