Default Escort mounted on the visor Q

I used a V1 for years and love it. Mounted to passanger visor with a Great Lakes mount. But the V1 gives many false alarms in town. My wifes always turning it off. So I am thinking of switching to the Escort 9500ix. (this is not a V1 vs. Escort issue). If I go to the Escort, I dont like the idea of it mounted under the miror. That seems to block diver vision and draw additional attention. I like the Great Lakes visor mount as it pretty hard to see it sitting there. But, unlike the V1 who's controls are on the front, the Escort controls are on the top. Does the a visor mount Great Lakes make it too difficulut to get to the Escort control bottons?
Appreciate any thoughts and advice?

Get the Dashtronix HUD interface for the V1.

One of the cool features available is the ability to mute the V1 below a speed that you select. Like maybe 25mph while passing by/in the parking lot of a strip mall/etc/etc.

And/or you can program the V1 to ignore all X-band alerts and/or reduce the sensitivity to K-band alerts.

I have the great lakes mount with my 9500ix. While the mount does cover the buttons (I can still access the volume switch), I rarely find myself using them. I have X-band turned off, and due to the GPS lockout feature for false alerts, it's quiet except for true warnings.

I have both setups.

The wife loves the arrows of the V1, but for me that damn thing won't shut up, so I like the Escort better. Have to agree with the above poster, the Dashtronix is the way to go with the auto-mute if you have HUD. Only comment on the Dashtronix is I think there could be a better mute switch setup over what they give you. Really makes for a nice stealth install if you want.

I also agree with the other poster, I never touch the buttons on the Escort.

I love the idea to turn-off warnings below say 25 mph.
I'll also try tunring off the x band too.
