^^^ you know what? your right... Even though I know it's been discussed a million times I too did a search and couldn't find it. Just gets a little boring sometimes seeing the same threads over and over again.

While I have the buried key in my FOB(2008^), I also carry a B-106 key($3.20 each from a local key shop) in my wallet and another hidden on the car.
The B-106 key has a large handle, so you have some leverage, but is not covered in thick plastic, so it fits in your wallet without adding bulk. Of course, you could just have the key hidden on your car and skip the one in your wallet(or key ring).
Is carrying an additional key neccessary(not connected to the FOB)? Ask all the ones that have locked their FOB(and attached key) in the back of the car?

" Do you carry your car key with you?"
I always carry the key with the fob. Why not? I'd rather have the key and not need it than not have the key and need it. In 6+ years I've only had two instances when I needed to get into the car using the key. Both times mechanics failed to park the car in reverse (despite my written warning taped on the dash). I also always carry a spare fob battery in the car.

Have other keys that I have to carry to - House, Office, other car.. So, one more key means nothing to carry. Cheap insurance in the event I have to use it, whcih I did once already.

Only 05s is right except that export cars (manuals) still had that reverse nonsense for a couple more years. Got that straight from the engineers at Carlisle. I had a well known 05 with serious problems due to that junk and did a lot of talking with the engneers

I carry my FOB around my neck... I have no reason to not have faith in it.
I could never get the "SPARE" out of the FOB but I'm told there is one there... Ill cross that bridge when or if it ever comes to that.

My fob never leaves my right pocket when I'm out with my car,GF got me this cool fob cover and it keeps the fob from accidentally setting off the alarm in my pocket!! I used a small strip of velcro to keep the flap closed.

Me too. I didn't want to break the fob so I gave up after about 5 seconds. Couldn't you just call OnStar on your cell to unlock the car?

To answer your question which was directed specifically to owners of '05 - '07 Corvettes: My key and FOB are on the same keyring, and both remain in the left pocket of whatever pants I am wearing. I would never leave home without the key.

Just the other day I drove off without my fob.......I started the car an went back in the house for something. When I got to the gym and shut the motor off...that's when I realize that I left my fob at home... I had to call my son to bring my fob. So I always keep the spare in my gym bag
