Default Recall: N140203, Low beam headlamp inoperative

What all does this involve? Is it a quick part swap, that is easily accessible?

thanks!

For the record, I did search first! If you put in the number (N140203) it comes back with nothing specifically about it!

thank you!

Do a search for "Headlight Recall" and take your pick.

Quick fix at the dealership, involves running a jumper wire to your headlights. I got it done a couple of weeks ago- took about an hour.

Had it done this morning at Rydell in Northridge CA and it took a tad over an hour.

Had mine done a couple of weeks ago. When I picked it up, I had to re-index the windows myself, and briefly had some strange electrical behavior - HUD displaying speed only but no RPM or oil temp, HAVC not holding a setting, radio pre-sets scrambled - all of which progressively and quickly restored to normal after a few brief ignition cycles.

Yea, about 45 minutes at my dealer. When I got the car back everything was working fine, it was clean with no fingerprints or grease on the steering wheel or upholstery and no footprints on the carpet and they had re-indexed the windows.

Is their a time limit for having this done ? Can you wait until you have the problem before going to the dealer ? I can understand that if you are less than thrilled with your dealer service you may want to see if you even have the problem. My understanding is that not all cars will have the problem.

AMEN BRO AMEN!!! also LIFTED TRUCKS !!!!
Hate to ask but what exactly do they do for this recall ????
The service writer says lets walk around the car and make sure all is good, they seem to know about my desire to keep clean, first thing I see is huge gorilla paw prints all over my fender, they wanted to get the lot boy to take care of it, I said "no thanks" I'll do it, but still
As few a trips to the dealer the better to me

VERY few cars will ever have the issue. GM is quoting about 1 in 1,000. Assuming they are underestimating by a factor of 10 that still leaves it at 1%. Since there is no time limit stated in the recall letter, this recall lasts for the life of the car. And if GM goes bankrupt again and refuses to honor old recalls, it is a moderately easy DIY.

Thanks for the answer. My car is a weekend toy and rarely driven at night so I think I will never encounter the problem. I am not found of somebody taking my car apart unless absolutely necessary.

Understood, but it only takes one time and in a split second it could cost you or your loved one life or lives.
Play it safe, for others sake also IMHO.
