Would you buy a new 2010?
The local dealer has a 2010 never titled yellow coupe that MSRPs at $62K and are asking $49.9K. Auto, magnetic ride, nav, 3lt, dual exhaust, polished wheels. Exactly the options I want. I'm just leery about a car that has been sitting on a dealer's lot for almost three years...

I might but would want more off than 12k. The moment you pull it off the lot it is a three year old used car.

That is a long time to sit at a dealers, but it is covered under warranty. (and a good deal). I don't think you should have a problem with seals, tires, etc......but make sure you trust the dealer's shop.
Be sure to give it a good test drive and inspection. Maybe you could even voice this concern and get an extended warranty.,

Check the plate on the door jam to see the actual build date. It may be less than 2 years old. How many miles does it have? If less than 100 or so, I think a good price would be in the low 40's.

If you do get them down on price to a point you're willing to deal, have them throw a new battery in it. Cuz odds are high the one in it has been drained so many times from just sitting that it's shot.

One thing to check real close is the paint. I was looking at a left over 2010 last fall and the paint was horrendous. I looked like they used sandpaper when they washed it.

What is the miles on the car? I passed up one about 3 years ago because it was 'the owners personal play car', never titled but 'dealer tagged'.
New 'used' i called it. As far as 3 years old , i'd expect to see some miles on it. I'd be concerned if 16 miles (never driven) or 2,600 miles (someones play car)
There are lots of options that would make up the reasonable sales price.

Do I think the 2010 would have issues because it's a new car still sitting on the lot? Answer: No.
If it is a regular base coupe w/3LT, Nav....I would NOT pay more than 43 all in. Yes, it's a new car. But as soon as you title it, it's then 2 years old already. If you plan to keep it for the long term, then get your best deal.
I think I would offer 42.5. There were not very many 2010's built (in comparison to other year models) d/t economy. I've got a '10 and only 518 'Z's were built that year. I'm sure C6 Cpe would work out the same in terms of number produced.

I dont think thats anywhere near a good enough discount. Remember, when you buy it and drive it on the street it becomes a used car so what would a 2010 with very low miles actually be worth. I think I would check the NADA or one of those books for their figures. Can you just imagine how much this car has cost the dealer for all this time. Normally a dealer starts paying Interest on the cars somewhere around the 120 day in inventory timeframe. I dont know what the Interest rate is now but it used to be 1% above the Prime Rate. I think I would also ask as to why the car has been around for so long. Also, look at the sticker. Is this the dealer that the car actually went to back in the 2010 model year. If not, then there are even more questions. Good Luck...

A dealer friend of mine once told me to beware of cars sitting at a dealer (or more than one different dealer) for months and months and months. Something about "Lot Rot". I would be very careful if it were me.

I bought my "brand new" 2010 ZR1 in January of this year and can testify that it's certainly fine to do so. The bumper to bumper warranty start date is 5/2011 so it's good thru 5/2014. Make sure you get a print from GM Global Connect to view the vehicle summary. The warranty dates are listed there.
At the same time do your due diligence and get some competitive quotes from some of the dealers on CF. At least you'll know where you stand and you may even have a bargaining chip when going back to the dealership.

And of course, you'll want to drive it before you buy.
Be sure to ask about 0% financing... around here it's available on 2012's until the end of April.
Things I'd do immediately:
-- Use a Techron additive each tankful for the first several fill-ups.
-- Change the oil.
-- Get a new battery.
Lastly, hire a pro to do a thorough detail... your new $50k C6 should look & smell brand-new.

I got over $26K off MSRP on my "new" 2008 Vert 3lt Z51, with less then 400 miles on it. Warranty started the day I bought it. Set on the showroom floor for 4 years. Did a used oil analysis, everything looks good. changed the brake fluid and will change the coolant in the fall before it is 5 years old. Car is perfect inside and out no cracking on tires. I will need new tires before they are 6 years old so I am not worried about tire age. I would buy the 2010, just get a better deal. Like $18K off MSRP
Plus you can't tell a older C6 from a 2012 so what are you getting with the 2012 versus a new 2008 or 2010? A higher price
