Engine built by Don Henley
I love this car....
Was crawling around looking for the engine build plate, and discovered Don Henley was the engine builder who built mine.
Damn that's cool.....

Agree....sing for the Eagles, campaign to save real eagles, and build small block V8's in his spare time.

Of course, just after I posted this, I discovered a thread about who built their engines.
Sorry for taking up bandwidth.....finishing my beer and going to bed.

Mine says 'Rick Dadd'. Since it's noisier than normal, it's probably not the best guy . Seriously, these guys don't do any special parts mating (especially pistons to cylinders), so the hand-built advantages are minor IMO. I prefer it's built by one guy myself, but I wouldn't brag about it. I'd like to know all of the real advantages of 'hand built' vs 'robot built'. And I put it in quotes because in reality a 'hand built' engine is probably only 60% done by hand. And the 'robot built' probably like 40%. Don't quote me on those numbers, but it should be something close to that. Hand built and robot built sounds like a 0 to 100% comparison, but it's not. All engines are hand built to a point; just some more than others. And all LS3 engines are torqued by robots guided by hand. And all use exactly the same components with the exception of the crank and sump.

This thread prompted me to go out in the garage and look for the plate that shows who built my engine .... Found it!

I for one am very pleased to know that one individual was responsible for the production of my engine. Sure, there were some tools involved that could be labeled as "robots," but there was one person responsible for making sure these tools did their job properly.
I can't say that for my 2011 BMW M3 that cost more that my new Vette.....

You know that you can get a poster with the engine builders autograph don't you? Mine was built by Chas Giese and I have the poster hanging in the garage with his autograph on it. Talk with Don Henley.

The dreaded battery gremlins
Well....The weather has been getting better up here, I wanted to start getting the car ready for its first drive.....I have not had the battery issues that have been discussed so much in this forum up until today.....I have been plugging the tender in on a monthly basis and today, decided to do the same thing so I could start some maintenance. The fob did not work....second fob did not work....WTF...popped the rear hatch and checked with the volt meter....hmmmm...3 volts not good....So I threw the tender on to put a charge in and Holy F... Batman....lights , sirens and solenoids are going crazy....So i pulled the battery and have put in on the bench and have the charger on it, not the tender....see if it holds a charge, if not see my dealer and if so...will try to see what is causing the system to be activated on an intermittent basis with out me initiating the starting sequence....I have another battery fully charged sitting on the bench that is for another car, maybe I will try that also....
Any suggestions as to the cause?
