Gravel Roads
I'm taking my 2012 Coupe on it's first long adventure this upcoming weekend. It will be a 1500 mile road-trip.
The scariest part of the whole drive is going to be the last mile to my parents' house. They live on a gravel road. I do not have any splash guards or protective tape installed on the car yet. I guess I'll just have to drive about 5-10 mph to avoid kicking up any rocks and minimizing the dust!
Anyone else have to deal with gravel roads?

Take a couple rolls of blue painter's tape and stop right before the gravel road and cover the area's behind the wheels with the tape, then after you leave stop after the gravel road and remove the tape, very simple and will protect the paint.

I wouldn't be concerned. You are just as likely to get chips while driving 65 mph down the freeway.
Just take her slow on the gravel, and enjoy showing off your new ride.

I agree.........Went on 2,500 mile trip through the western moutains a couple of years ago and we(roughly 9 corvettes on trip) encountered detours of gravel, dirt, mud, fresh tar with pea gravel top coat, and it was all good....just take it slow and no problem.

REALLY slow. Parade slow. Where you can clearly hear the slow crunching of the gravel. It is only a mile. No big deal even if you were to proceed at a walking pace.

Thanks for all of the advice! Sometime later this year I may end up having it professionally protected with a clear film. For this trip, I might try the painter's tape or just take it slow.

I currently live on a gravel road and that is the reason I will be picking up my new GS after I move. watch out for rocks stuck in the tread when you leave. They can be nasty.

Just take it slow and all will be good. I lost both my parents in the last couple of years and would drive 1000 miles on a gravel road to talk to them again.

I live a quarter mile down a dirt road and have gravel driveway, you'll be fine if you keep it under 15 MPH.
Enjoy your trip, come back safe and have a great time

I live 2 miles off of the blacktop on a gravel and sand road. I drive my Vette frequently and there has been no problem with chips. I do keep it under 30 mph (usually 20 or 25). I recently added the GM splash guards. I think they will help, but had no problems before. The dust that accumulates on the rear of the car is the bad part.

I agree with the others. Take it slow and you'll be fine.
