Default Is it true?

A Safeway employee told me that their gas stations use Chevron fuel as the gas they pump from Safeway gas stations?

I wouldn't put much concern into it. There's nothing special about one brand of gas over another except for the detergents put in.

Dump in a can of seafoam every oil change and don't worry about the type of gas you're putting in

Or don't even bother about the seafoam. Just use the gas. Just pick the gas with the lowest amount of ethanol in it, that will rob power.

Around here all gas has 10% ethanol. A lot of chain stores here are Shell, and it says so at the pump.

My experiance with Shell has been horrible. I consistanly get 27 miles to the gallon on the hiway (using Murphy gas). 2 recent trips had to use shell a couple of times during both trips and fuel mileage dropped to 22/23 miles per gallon.

I've used Murphy (Wal-Mart) premium 93 for the past several years with no adverse effects. They're easy to find on trips too.

Costco is priced low like Arco.

Why don't you ask Chevron if Safeway is a dealer. If Safeway isn't, I'm sure Chevron would like to know that they are claiming to be selling Chevron gas.

Gasoline at the terminal where the transport truck picks it up is a generic item. Pretty much all oil companies, Chevron, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, etc... sell branded and unbranded gasoline. If you looked at an OPIS report you would see how they priced it differently to the wholesale market. While I could definitely see where they have contracted to buy barrels from Chevron, I would bet that it's on an unbranded basis. What that means is that it won't have the Chevron proprietery additive package in the fuel that the branded Chevron stations are selling. Being in the gasoline business my recommendation would be to stick with the branded product for you Corvette.

The gas that gets trucked in here to Costco is from Tesoro Refinery according to the driver I spoke to.

Another none issue. Fuel from the refineries goes to many retailers who then brand it as there own. We have a Marathon tank farm here and the tank wagons leaving that facility are from all the retailers and independents. If you think each storage tank is blended differently for each one sorry not the case. It comes to the farm via pipeline.

Ok... :/ 1.45 or more per Liter here in Canada, for the 91. I think that's like 6$ per gal if I'm not mistaken.

Shell does not get the best mileage in any of my autos. Recently a Pure station opened up in little ole Atmore. NON ETHANOL! Guess what I'm using in all my autos now!
