Default Car theft or coincidence?

I was at a gun show today for 8 hours. When I came out I noticed that one head light was on and my key fob wasnt working.

I gained access to the car by using the key in the key fob and pulling the cable to open the door.

At that time I thought that the battery had died, so a friend that was still there gave me a jump. I put the cables on, the head lights and dash lights came on at full power. I pushed the start button and nothing happened.

After calling a friend of mine that has a GS he told me that he thought that the car had a 11 minute delay from starting. So we waited 12 minutes, closed all the doors and hood and the car fired up when I pushed the start button on the third push.

At that time another C6 pulled up and asked if I had problems too. He had basically the same problem that I had and saw someone walking around his car looking at it when he came out of the bldg.

Attempted car theft or 100% coincidence that both batteries had issues on the same day?

Thanks guys

I'm wondering why just ONE of your headlights was on instead of both of them.

Possibly the dumbest criminal on earth trying to steal cars from a gun show parking lot.

Maybe the alarm did activate while you were inside?

Just a dead car battery could cause all those symptoms. An 11 minute timer between car start attempts?

Battery dies. Computers get confused. Jumping brings voltage a little higher which is enough to pull in the second headlight relay and give both lights but doesn't end computer confusion. Normal computer shutdown ends confusion.

No one can say for sure, if it was an attempted thieft it failed.

I'll guess bad/failing battery.

Two cars in the same parking lot?

Could be anybody's guess,

How about sunspots?

How about a guy (why is it always a guy?) with a transmitter trying to
fool the car into thinking he had a fob?

Could be that the light that was not on has failed?

And I would add that not being able to jump start on the first try can be normal. Most people have lousy jumper cables that are too small to deliver the high amperage that starting a car demands. Also, the clamps have to be positioned such that there is enough surface area to conduct that amperage.

Thanks guys.

I have been driving the car today with not battery issues. The drivers side window is not going back up after the door is closed.

I'll read the manual later to see what that's all about.

The volt meter read 12.8 when we tried to start it the first few times and it would just shut the whole car off when I would push the start button.

Not so dumb... The gun shows unilaterally disarm every customer (except Leo) and lots of people leave their guns and new gun purchases in their cars beause they are too heavy.

That window "indexing" issue is a sign of a power/battery problem. Have the battery load tested.
