GMS pricing = No big deal?
This post from December 2009 says GM Employee Pricing is not what it used to be...
But Boardwalk Chevrolet (a forum dealer who is right at the top of providing competitive C6 pricing) says the following in their ads on the forum...
So is GMS pricing on a C6 worthless or not? For what it's worth, I don't see any other forum dealers even mention GMS in their ads.
Preferred Employee pricing (GMS) is now the same as supplier pricing but with an additional employee discount that varies with the vehicle.
The discount given to employees now is almost worthless as you can do a deal quite easily below GMS without any employee help.
Your dealer giving you a GMS deal is no bargain.

All GM Employees Take An Additional $3,000 Off Any Of My Sale Prices (must have gms number)

When I purchased my 09 Z06 in July of 2008, GM had a short run campaign running where a real GM employee could give his number to a friend(not a GM employee) to purchase a new GM vehicle. My price was $3,000 under the 'invoice' price of the car.

I think GMS was huge back when the C6 came out as dealers were not giving the $10,000 to $13,000 off MSRP they are giving now. I remember in 2006 People we are actually selling their GMS numbers because GMS was cheaper than invoice. Paying invoice in 2006 was unheard of. Heck Dealers will still asking $35,000 over for Z06's and getting it in my area.

GMS was not Employee pricing (in the past). That was Supplier pricing which was higher than Employee pricing.
Now you can just call up a forum dealer (like Tommy Jr @ MacMulkin) and you can get employee pricing without any hassle at all.
That $3000 might be good only for employee's as an additional discount off of the regular employee pricing.

Actually Employee Pricing was called GMS and then there was a separate GM Supplier Price (higher).
Now GM just has Preferred Pricing (which is Supplier Pricing) and GM Employees get an additional EVA (Employee Vehicle Allowance, which varies by vehicle) off the Preferred Price.
All that GM pricing can be found at: https://www.gmfamilyfirst.com/ip-vpp/

Go to the “Vehicle Shopping” pull-down menu on the GM site I referenced above and “search dealer inventory” by Zip Code and it will give you the Preferred Price and EVA.

I wonder how "exclusive" the EVA is? As an example, about every forum dealer is advertising 1LT GS coupes for $10K off. If you walk in with a legit GMS number, I'm ***uming they would knock another $2500 off.

Man...I never bothered to search inventory...I was doing the "Build Your Own" and never saw that. Thanks for the help!

I don’t see why not…the EVA comes out of GM’s pocket, not the dealer's.
However, it’s get complicated when the dealer uses “rebates” in his discount, as Preferred Pricing usually has exclusive rebates for the program which may or may not be available to the general public. And conversely, sometimes rebates available w/o Preferred Pricing are not allowed to be used with Preferred Pricing (also you can’t use GM Card points w/PP). It’s crazy business.

It gets way confusing if you look at it over the years.
There used to be A plan, B plan, and S plan.
basically employee pricing if you ordered was A, if it was on the lot it was B, and if you were a supplier it was S if you ordered or took it off the lot and all were different % off based off the car and how you got it. At that time if you ordered a new Corvette it was almost 18% off sticker....
Then they changed it to GMA and GMS if I remember right, and it didn't matter if it was on the lot or ordered.
But now, it isn't anything like what it used to be 15 year ago, or even 10 years ago as far as the discount goes.

if you use a GM eva cert you don't get the 3000 in market discount. My friend bought a 2012 500 cheaper than i because of this i gave him a supplier cert. We both bought 2012 corvettes my discount off of Supplier less eva and 1500 was 4000 he actually got 4500 go figure.
