Default New Corvette owner with A LOT of questions!

First of all hello guys, I'm sure there is a newbie introduction area which I should've done first BUT I guess I'll get to it!

I'm 21 from Michigan just bought a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe and the dealer I bought it from didn't know sh*t about sh*t so hopefully you all can help!

If you do the wide body conversion do you have to change the tire size as well?

Is the widebody conversion necessary to supercharge the vehicle? I thought I read the tires wont grip with the stock 18x19 tires

What do you guys recommend for exhaust? The manual I test drove was soooo much louder it couldn't have been stock. This guy is very quiet!

Whenever I go over bumps there is a squeaking sound? Reminds me of my dads old truck when the seats bounced it would squeak. I'm not sure if its suspension or what it could be but it's so annoying!

My brakes squeak but only when backing up? It makes no sense to me.

Front cigarette lighter is out, I checked the fuse under the hood and it seems ok no idea why its out =(

I want to black out the ride, any vendor you guys recommend for rims? I'm not sure if I should wait for them though I mean if the 18x19 work on the wide body then sure but if not then it does me no good.

What does competition mode do exactly?

Do all of the vettes come with butterfly valves? If so how do I open it.

How do I set my clock radio LOL

Well hopefully I don't sound crazy to you guys. Thanks for all the help in advance!

You need wider wheels and tires for widebody to look correct.

You don't need widebody for supercharger.

Dont smoke

Do you means butterfly valves in exhaust? Then no...optional on standard coupe

you can DL owners manual online if you dont have one

just some answers....

Pictures from Day one... will probably take new ones today. Hopefully everyone can see them! They are from my Facebook! Just let me know if you cant.

Oh yes, I don't smoke. Never have touched a cigarette in my life. I want it for my radar detector. Right now I have it plugged in in the center console. Oh nice, Chevrolet.com for the manual?

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the C6.

Here's a link to where you can download a 2008 owner's manual.

Congrats, nice car! The brake noise, suggest you have the brakes checked out by a Chevy dealer or trusted brake shop, in fact it may be a good idea to have a complete vehicle insp.. For wheels ck. the forum vendors, some great wheel deals right now.

If you're asking about the clock, here are the instructions from page 3-82 of the 2008 owner's manual.

Setting the Time

With the ignition on and the radio off, press the H or the
M button to enter clock mode. Press and hold H until
the correct hour appears on the display. Press and
hold M until the correct minute appears on the display.

To change the time default setting from 12 hour to
24 hour, press either the H or the M button to enter
the clock mode. Press the tune **** to select between
the 12 or 24 hour display format. The clock mode
automatically times out with the changed display
format set as the current default setting.
Radio, pages 3-82 to 3-88 of the owner's manual.

One of the best mods for your car is to add a mild to wild switch. This will allow you to open the exhaust valves on demand. Otherwise, in stock form they only open after the motor goes beyond 3500 RPMs.

Take the fuse out for your NPP Exhaust to stay open.

Do you have this system?

The butterfly valves are open in this photo, so kinda hard to see 'em (they are in the 2 middle outlets).

Or look for "NPP" on the sticker in your glovebox. Other codes described here: http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...ad.php?t=80052

If you have the NPP dual-mode exhaust, it should open automatically above ~3500 rpm.
To keep it open all the time, pull the fuse... skip to 1:45 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEi6_KxjeO4

And congrats on your new C6!

Congratulations and best wishes on your new ride.

We've got 2 black C6's; one supercharged, one not. Supercharged one has a wide booty; wanted/needed? More rubber in the rear to help handle the power upfront.

Get your radar detector power from your inside rear view mirror. Tap into the black(for ground) and pink(for power). That's if your detector has a RJ-45 connector.
Google - C6 invisicord (stay away from the Ebay junk. Ask me how I know)LOL
Good luck.
