Default Insurance Cost

I've seen CF queries from time to time re the cost to insure a Vette. The latest NYTimes auto section carried a column referencing the 2012 analysis done at Insure.com. These are nationwide averages. The 20 cheapest cars to insure run from $1100 to $1170. Most expensive 20 from $2430 to $3380.

Base Vettes $1677-1718 Verts less than coupes
GS $1750 - $1800
Z06 $2000
ZR1 $2322

My 2012 GS Coupe A6 caused my insurance to go up $50 every 6 months from the cost to insure my 2004 Honda CR-V EX.

Pretty amazing actually!!!

There must be some high prices somewhere. My Z costs less than $900 per year to insure.

lol, i pay $180 less for my 05 vette than my 09 aveo. I have a package deal, $1400 annually.

Edit: i did ask my insurance guy why the difference, he said its based on the cars year since newer models have a higher parts cost and more diminished value.

SUVs seem most expensive--must be in a lot of wrecks
(I won't say anything about who drives them)!!

Thru GEICO:

My wife's 07 Acadia is 709/yr

08 Vert is 516/yr

08 Silverado is 430/yr
