Default UPDATE: Shoe Scuffs on Rocker Pannel Door Jam Plastic Results.

Hello All,
Well, I tested about a dozon things recommended on CF to take the black shoe scuffs off the rocker pannels door jams when getting in. 2008 LS3, Red with black and tan interior. Again, for those who did not read my first post, I did not put them there as the first owner did. Out of all the suggestions the only one that really worked was the regular Magic Eraser. It was not easy. I used warm soapy water and the eraser. It took many times of rubbing, maybe 300 or 400 strokes with some force to slowly remove them little by little. No damage at all. Looks like they were never really there at all now. Recommended by me for what that is worth.

: salute:

Thanks,
Doug

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser - don't need any soap with it. Usually comes multiple eraser-sized pads in a box. Get'em at Wally World in the auto detailing aisle, or in grocery stores in the detergent aisle, especially Krogers.

Wet an eraser, wring out the excess water, 2 or 3 light swipes, slightly abrasive.

Wet for sure, with a little bit of warm dish washing soap in a bowl.

For me, wet and warm water with soap lowered the friction when rubbing. Did not try dry as I was worried about scratching. I would not do it dry. FWIW...

I learned about the eraser on the forum in 2005 and have used it since. Great product.

Agree. No damage and works well. Did you use it dry or wet?

In my detail shop we use them all the time for this very purpose. You always want it to be wet when you rub it back and forth.

I wonder if it may be just easier/cost efficient for you guys to replace them?

15 min. worth of work and $2.25 is not too much trouble. Going to the dealer, paying for a new one is.

Do not use the Magic Eraser product dry! It is made of melamine and is very abrasive when used dry. With enough force and enough time you will take the paint off. Wet, they are perfect. I used one on one of my tail light lens to get magic marker off of it. I also used it to remove the residue from where the dealer tag was glued to my back bumper.

Magic Eraser works good.

On my black interior, I placed 2" wide black vinyl tape on the door jam trim piece (drivers side only) to protect the surface.

The magic eraser worked great getting adhesive off the window and for removing stubborn stains from my rims.
