Gas Cap issue
anyone else have their gas cap fail? Put gas in the Z the other day and the cap will not go back on securely. I have no idea WTH happened to it. I have never had a gas cap fail before

My other two vehicles are newer Ford vehicles. Both are gas cap less. Can that be F'd up also?
My gas cap goes on very lightly and the only way I can tell it is on is when I pull it back and it stays on. Have to monkey with it once in a while, but not very often.

Yes mine did the same thing then the check engine light came on ,so i just replace it for $26.50 problem solved, I think i cause the problem by turning it a extra click after i put it back on after each fill up to make sure it was tight

Gas caps can fail but the C6 gas cap doesn't screw-down tight like gas caps on many other cars. Years ago I had a check gas cap warning. Another forum member suggested I try screwing the cap on as 'loosely' as possible. I mean...the cap is still screwed on but not screwed down tight until it stops. I've never had any further problems with the gas cap (I still have the new one I bought to replace the OEM cap). If screwing it on loosely doesn't do the trick the cap is easy to replace. Good luck.

Never had one totally fail. I did have the OEM cap on my 06Z set a CEL about once a year after a fill-up. Not often enough in my mind to replace the cap. The next OEM cap could have been worse!!

The link that I posted is were I bought my gas cap for my 07 Vet. It has worked very well so far. The number on the key is 13EL if that helps any. I check my orders and the Stant 10511 was correct, which I bought in 08.
