Default Vert drone vs coup

I have searched this topic and have found some conflicting results, as usual with this topic. But i would like to run a poll and to see, from owners with experience in both cars, if the vert has less drone than the coup. I am leaning towards the B&B fusion without headers and possibly an X pipe if that would lessen the drone. Any input from you knowledgeable folks would be greatly appreciated.

My 11 GS vert is much quieter in every aspect than my 09 coupe was even with the goodyear super car tires on the 11 vert. I had replaced the super car tires on the 09 coupe wih Michelin AS tires and the vert is still quieter than it was. Npp on both cars.

The only drone I had in my vert was tire induced and virtually eliminated with my switch to Michelin PS A/S+ ZPs.

I had awful drone when I put on PRT's. It felt like it made my teeth come loose!! I can't see it being any worse on a coupe!!

My '08 coupe had some drone at about 1,500 rpm but that was with the GCA off "high performance" exhaust. With the stock exhaust it did not have much drone.

I can tell you my '08 vert with stock exhaust is very quiet. Too quiet!

There is no drone but I intend to change the exhaust this year. Then we will see.

Anyone who's actually owned both will have to conclude that the vert is quieter inside than the coupe. The lack of the hatch area effectively insulates the cabin from more road and exhaust noise than the coupe. That's a simple fact.

Since I was little, I was always told that convertibles are louder inside. HOWEVER, I have owned two coupes (base & ZO6) and I can say with 100% certainty, that things have changed. At least when it comes to corvette. I recently drove a 2011 GS vert and it was remarkably quiet inside the cabin. This vert even had the nasty Goodyear F1's and it was still quieter than both my previous coupes and they had Nitto Invos. That rear wall that your back rests against in a vert acts as a major noise suppressor. Whereas the glass hatch in the coupe acts as an amplifier and resonates all that road noise all around the cabin. No doubt about it, corvette convertibles are quieter inside than coupes.

Stan is right. And while a louder exhaust is great for a car that is only driven on the weekends, it can get old very quickly when the car is taken on long trips.

, +3 While my vert is quieter than my coupe, there still is one time when the drone in the vert can reach tiresome levels -- on a long highway trip in 6th at less than ~1800 rpm, with the NPP butterfly valves open. A click of the M2W button solves the problem.

My point is, a vert *can* have drone issues -- it is not a complete night/day difference between a 'vert and a coupe.

I did the same thing except I had an 08 coupe. The 11 GS Vert at 6k miles was quieter than my 08 Coupe with insulation kit and A/S ZP tires, NPP open or close. At least as far as drone is concerned. Vert has more wind noise towards the back and of course the top itself is thin compared to glass/metal roof of the coupe. It doesn't bother me though and occurs at 80 or above. Probably takes out the tire noise.

If both cars are fitted out the same way the vert is quieter. You will here more drone with a automatic verse a manual though. The coupe hatch area acts like a amplifier for all the noise.

Yes, this what I'm after, Everything being equal. My 07 is stock and way too quiet, it is also not a DD. I just don't want to go too far the other way and make a Sunday cruise turn unbearable. Poll has the Vert quieter 23 to 4.
Thank you all for your input and hopefully we'll get many more.
