Corvettes at Carlisle..........
Do any of you go/will you be going this year? Is it worth going? It's about a 400-450 mile drive for me.

I've never been but my wife and I are planning on making the 350 mile drive this year. I have a number of buddies that go each year and refer to it as the "Corvette Mecca". Maybe we'll see you there!

It was a 350 mile run for me.We stayed 2 days, met some nice Vette owners at the hotel and had dinner with other forum members. IMO it's a great one timer for the distance traveled. Maybe when the next generation comes out we'll go again. We enjoyed the 1200 mile trip to Bowling Green much better. The factory tour was awesome.

It's a 2 hour ride for me, so I go up for the day. I try and get there early and leave a little after noon. Went the first 3-4 years after I bought the 2005, skipped a couple then went last year right after I bought my 2009. The weather can be a bit hot and stormy. Couple years ago I had left around noon then a tornado like storm hit. I think everyone must go once, then decide if a return trip(s) is in order--eddie

It's held on a golf course; beautiful parking under the trees in dry weather, but a quagmire if you get too much rain.
A big building full of accessories, shirts, new parts, etc. Exhaust systems sold/installed on the spot (do they ship your old one back to you?). Long rows of used parts outdoors and used 'vettes from "nice" to "absolutely overpriced trash". The Meccum (sp?) auction is interesting for a while.
For 2013, they are moving back to the Bloomington area, that may be good or bad.

Carlisle is in PA near Harrisburg. Event is held on an old Fairgrounds next to the Turnpike.
It isn't as good as it used to be is all I can say. I used to go every year but the last time I attended PA had started enforcing sales tax collections and a large number of used parts vendors that I used to buy stuff from didn't show up. Don't know if they came back in subsequent years.

I made the trip in 2011 for the first time and it was a great time. Went for the day only. I can't see staying longer. It gets exremely hot there in August.

So... the Bloomington is/was the one that was at St. Charles IL? I went to that this past summer. It was good. I wish I paid more attention to the muffler vendors as far as different sounds, etc. from different models. And yes, I did wonder how one would bring back the original exhaust system if installed there.

I haven't been for a couple of years. I would like to go this year. It seems like every time I go it is hot as blazes, or at least as hot as it is at home in Florida. But, it is a great time and I enjoy every minute that I am there.

We drive 500 miles from Maine every year for Carlisle, this will be our third Corvette's at Carlisle this summer!
We have attended many other Carlisle events in the past 16 years, please try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'll be going this year (as a new owner) and I'm totally looking forward to it.. Probably stay Friday night into Sat and head out. Looks like a fun vette-fest to me! about a 3 hour drive and that might be the best part!
