Safety Car
We have tons of idiot drivers in CA that don't know what a turn-signal is and have no clue about the meaning of the blue light in the dash (high beams, duh!).
Good luck with giving them more technical details about whats wrong

Engine analyzers are available for almost all cars. I would rather not have yet another costly government mandate that all car buyers have to pay for. There ain't no free lunch.

you know, it would be trivial to show a number instead of just having a light bulb. You don't need to have a full message even.
There would be many ways of doing it cheap, especially with new cars all having digital readouts these days.
Of course, our cars already tell us
