Hey... I Just realized...is the RICER ERA dead?
I was sitting at the office today, looking at cars go by thinking how most cars look plain, but reliable and new. Then it came to me... I haven't seen a RICED up car in ages. It's a good thing... But really, what happened to the skinny little brats with their 90 hp cars putting silly wings in the back of their cars, crazy stickers, and othe retarded upgrades?
Were they all embarrassed to death? Did they just smarten up, or maybe fast cars are actually easier to obtain? Maybe they now prefer comfort over the boxes they used to drive?
Is this the same everywhere or is anyone still seeing a few of these ricers packing ridiculous "upgrades" to their econo cars around in their area?

They all bought Audis.
Can't prove it 100% but have a strong feeling based on a lot of douchey driving here in LA from 3-5 year old A4 Audis.

I don't think so. I was looking at the car magazines at the supermarket the other day, and on the front of one was a 1001 hp Honda Civic.

Go Canes!
Obviously the OP hasn't been to South Florida lately. Plenty of Ricers here. Each one challenging me when I am at a stoplight next to them

most of them graduated from high school and moved on, eagerly waiting for their 60th birthday so they can buy a vette

Wow... Yuck...Strange, I find in many parts of Canada, it's moved on. In the GTA, people have moved away from low end sports cars and have either economical cars, or moved on to more luxurious rides, like bmw's, Mercedes, SUVs of all kinds, audi, Bentley, etc.
The few sport cars remaing are mid, high end, like Corvette's, Porsche caymans, 911's, high end muscle cars, evos, wrx STIs, etc
And people here don't want to scratch their nice cars, so street racing here is nearly non-existant.
In less populated cities, pickup truck's are much more popular than before, so people will buy econo cars and a pickup/or older muscle car.

In Houston it seems to have toned down a bit. You still see the coffee can exhaust on some econo cars, the hand me down mid size sedan and the occasional aluminum park bench on the trunk of a Camry but it doesn't seem as bad as it was from 2000-2005.
In North Jersey I've seen a few lowered imports but they are few and far between. The potholes in and around Jersey City and Newark would eat them up!
Import parts supplier APC did file for bankruptcy protection and NOPI shut down their US warehouse and distributing operation in 2010, only distributing worldwide from Japan so that must be a good sign right?
