Has there been any news on this issue? Any others with early model C6s having the problem of no longer being able to play MP3s after installing the latest (v8) NAV DVD?

Update
After the 2012 navi update, CD player started skipping too. It will play 20-30 sec and then stop for 3-4 sec, continue to play for 5-6 sec and stop again for 3-4 sec. Felt like the was no buffering or the buffer was not big enough. Went to the dealership, they were able to duplicate the problems and installed a new navi unit yesterday under my GMPP. New unit is not skipping songs on regular CDs but MP3s are still not playing. I burned a new MP3 CD in Mode 1 (according to PIC4471C from 07/10/2010). There are 87 songs on the CD, the unit only lists about 15 or so. It plays the 1st song, when i skip to the 2nd song it restarts playing song #1 again. Skip to the 3rd song, starts playing #1 again. When I try to play #6, it starts playing #5 and if i keep skipping to #7,8,9,10 still starts #5. From #11 onwards, plays #10. This is the weirdest thing ever. Keep in mind that the same exact songs were playing just fine before this 2012 navi update. According to the tech, the unit came from GM with the latest firmware, but he couldn't tell me what version that is.

Only use MP3's with Constant bitrate (CBR), not variable ones (VBR)...second type will not be played by the Denso Nav
All VBR mp3 songs will be skipped until a CBR one is coming up.
This'll happen with mixed vbr/cbr burned cd's:

I ripp all my MP3s with constant bit rate. I have an old MP3 disc that I burned in July 2011 and I used on a daily basis with the old nav unit. It worked fine for over 6 months and stayed in the unit since. It got some scratches from the head unit and started to act up on some songs later in the year but it played most of the MP3s just fine. After the 2012 upgrade the unit didn't recognize the CD at times, at times it did recognize it but it would only show about 15-20 MP3s out of 85+ and only play 2-3 MP3s. The new unit doesn't recognize this old MP3 CD at all. Also worth mentioning, I bought three Adele MP3s from Amazon.com, all burned on the new MP3 CD in sequential order. One plays just fine, when I try playing the other two, the first Adele song starts to play.
I talked to the service adviser yesterday and i'm scheduled to go to the dealer today to open a case with GM.

Update: I dropped the car at the dealership for half day. They contacted Techline who had them run an internal check that came out fine so they are blaming it on my MP3 CDs. Service adviser asked me to call GM Customer Assistance with the case number and they will have the engineer who worked on this case call me back. Called Customer Assistance but they gave me the run around and said that if dealership claims it's the MP3 CD then that's what it is and they can't put me in touch with an engineer because there isn't one assigned to this case.
I had this escalated to a manager who listened to me, agreed it sounds like a firmware issue and said he will escalate it with an area manager. The area manager called, agreed it sounds like a firmware issue, said he will look into it and get back to me, then called the dealership and called me back saying he called the dealership and they are blaming it on my CDs so there's nothing else he can do. Told him I'm willing to accept that my MP3 CDs are not burned correctly if they can play their own MP3 CD properly in my car. If they say it's working properly, it's only fair that they should be able to demonstrate it with their own MP3 CD.
I was just told that the dealership cannot burn MP3 CDs and cannot show me it's working and I should just take their word for it.
So far, the "area manager" is not willing to escalate the issue with the GM engineers, so he's just giving me the same run around I keep getting for the past 4 months.

Do you have iTunes? I would try burning another cd using that. Just make a playlist and go to file and select Burn Playlist to Disc. I just upgraded the firmware in my 05 yesterday and made a test mp3 disc and there are some songs on there that I'm sure would not work if burned by other software according to what I've read on here but using iTunes they work fine.

I used Nero and that's what the Techline suggested I use. I don't have iTunes but will give it a try right now. I'll try anything that can make it work. Are you using iTunes on a Mac, Win XP or Win 7?

I've got the 2011 disk in my '07. I did not see a software update go into it at the time. Now mine has always played burned MP3 disks although I've noted that sometimes, it will not play an entire song and suddenly moves onto the next one, on its own. As for the person having issues with the NAV not seeing songs listed that he knows is there, when burning the disk, make sure there are no special characters in the filename and limit the fiilename to 31 characters or less. I happen to use Nero and it works for me. I don't know and I'm not sure about this not playing a whole song and its not the same song each time it happens.

You ever this resolved??? I'm having the same issue and I didn't upgrade the disks, still the original disks (ver 6). Only plays first song, cannot see all the songs on the disk. Owners manual says it will pay VBR MP3 among others.
Thanks

Didn't get anywhere with the dealership or area manager and don't know how to escalate the issue past them. They refused to help or show that the unit plays MP3s. In the meantime, the 4 month old navi unit had to be replaced again. This time, the screen will not turn on randomly even though the radio/CD played fine, voice commands worked. The new unit installed today is not playing MP3s.
