No problems here either. Most of the air going to the radiator enters from below the grill opening, in front of the factory deflector. Some folks remove the two end pieces but don't remove the center piece because it directs air up into the radiator.

I made mine. In addition to the front, I also made one for the bottom. Both are 1/4" cres woven wire mesh. I have not noticed abnormal temperature increase over the past few years.
IMO, I don't feel safe for the condenser, given the stock front grill has an egg grate grill, but it is not effective and the bottom has nothing in terms of deflection for foreign incoming objects.
