2013 60th Corvete and the Corvette 427 Convertible Special Edition!

Also, I doubt they'd make a whole new floor board just for one year for one model. I have a strong suspicion they are using the same as the ZR1/Z06 Balsa/CF sandwich.

Nice that GM is adding performance HP increase instead of just badging!

I think its just misleading marketing. They talk about a 'Carbon Fiber Hood', pulled from the Carbon edition. If I recall correctly, it wasn't full Carbon Fiber, but a partial CF/Fiberglass hood. They're probably doing the same with the floor board.

Maybe Chevy Rep could explain GM's liberal use of CARBON FIBER in their advertisements This fine machine weighs 3355 lbs, with all these weight saving measures. Seems like GM is full of it...

This is your answer? You did this once before. We are comparing Corvettes, why do you do this all the time. Never mind, I know why.

Several of you wanted this car, and now you have it. I would have bet my Z06 that a LS7 vert would never see the light of day. I'm sure eating crow this morning. Now waiting for the other shoe to drop.....the price.
I'm wondering though, just how many of the people on this forum will be able to pony up the $$$$$$$$. Wanting something and being able to afford it are two different things.
The way I read the press release, the 427 vert will be a separate option from the 60th anniversary edition that is white with the blue stripes, but the 427 vert can be had with the separate 60th anniversary option. So I'm guessing the 427 vert will be available in all colors.
The most desirable(and the most expensive) will be the 427 vert with the 60th anniversary option.
But, kudos to GM for producing a special edition Corvette that isn't just paint/decals/badges.

I fully agree with your other points, especially your last sentence.

Diamond White is normally the colour associated with a 60th wedding anniversary. The 60th Anniversary Gemstone is Diamond and the 60th Anniversary Color is Diamond white.

Your so insecure about the ZR1 taking a backseat to another Corvette model, you just keep throwing out the "it's faster around a circuit."
You don't even give the 427 vert any credit or realize why this very well could be a historic Corvette, sad.
Time to have an open mind Racer and just accept, GM is hitting a homerun with the 427 vert

I do this in the hope you'll get why the "faster car=better car" mentality isn't always the case. You sadly still don't get it

This really screws up my plans as I was ready to get a 2012 in March. Now I have to wait and rethink things. I noticed an early comment that the L89 engine option was offered in 1969. I owned a 1968 L89 purchased new from Palmyra motors in New York. When it arrived at dealership with no buyer on it I had no idea what it was, looked it over and decided I had to have it. Unfortunately, I traded next year for a 1969 427/435.

I think this is a good move by GM. Would have been a great move if offered with both stick and auto trans. But this is a good move.
I'm not a ragtop guy. If I were, tho, this car would be at the top of my wish list.
I bet this car will be very popular, both now and into the future.

GM needed a factory convertible Corvette with some *****. Or better put, something bigger and stronger than the same old LS3 found in the base model. So they built one with some real "testosterone" i.e. the 427 cu in LS7 in it. Some teeth. Kudos to them. This car is overdue.
Remember, at one time, all Corvettes were convertibles. They already had two hardtops in the current lineup with *****, the Z06 and the ZR1.
Now they needed a convertible with an engine in it which had a solid reputation, and street cred amongst car enthusiasts for brute power. The LS7 is just that. It's performance reputation has been carved over the last what, 6 years, and some of it's exploits on the track have been documented right in here.
It was the next logical move and fills a lot of needs.....or wants, anyway.
Those who want the actual power, to go along with the looks of the Z06, well now they don't have to give up the power of the Z06 now in exchange for a convertible top.
They also don't have to go to Callaway to get a convertible wide body with big power. The factory now will be offering a convertible Corvette with an iconic motor in it. The 427 cu in. LS7.
GM desperately needed a factory convertible Corvette with some teeth. Dodge has one in the Viper, and this new 427 Vert, fits the bill.
I'm really excited about this new model.

The LS7, lives on and GM is apparently showing their confidence in it as a power plant, despite issues with a few of the early ones. Since '09, that motor has been solid and I am glad to see that they thought enough of it, to put it into this new model.

This is wonderful news. It is highly unlikely that the lS7 engine will continue in the C7. What a way to send out the C6 & LS7 together as a Collecters Edition package. It seems Chevy may have been paying attention to their customers. It is a unique package that is far more than paint & graphics as has been done in the past. If you like the paint & graphics you can add that as well. Something for everyone.

Well, for you.
But for the next guy who wants a convertible, the LS3 might not offer enough factory power for him, and the LS7, at 505hp/475 lb ft of torque and a 7K redline, just might.
It's just good to see a factory wide body convertible, which has the power to go along with the looks.
I haven't been this excited about the intro of a C6 in a long time. Hats off to GM.
