Looking at Bilstien shocks. Sport or HD?
I did a search and found some responses, but just want to see if the consensus stays from what I found. For street comfort go with the HD. Still true? Thanks.

I installed the HD shocks on my 2013 Base Coupe. That along with Z51 sway bars made a big difference in ride quality and handling. I can't speak about the Bilstein Sport shocks, I too went by what I researched from the forum. I'm happy with the ride for a street car, I'm sure the Sport shocks would fair better at the track but might be a little firm on the street. Guess the road quality would play a factor as well (my state's roads suck for the most part).

Bilstein's changed the names/numbers on the shocks but as you know from reading, the general consensus was if your car is a base-suspension car, go with HDs. If Z51-optioned, go with Sports. Now some folks thought the Sports were a little harder riding than they wanted, and thus went with HDs on a Z51 car. Still seems like HDs are the way to go for most comfort. jmo

Not sure if this holds true for the corvette bilsteins but I have read that the HDs are for stock height and the sports are for lowered heights. basically the lowered ones are valved more agressively and have a shorter stroke since you have less travel on lowered cars.
So: Are you lowered? are you stock? that should determine which shock you get.

The HD and Sports are identical except valving (they have the same stroke). I have run both on my Z51 C6 (lowered on stock bolts). As others have said, I find the HDs are slightly more compliant (comfortable). If I tracked the car I would have stayed with the Sports, but am happy with the HDs on my DD. There is a third choice for valving, those by Doug Rippie, but I have no experience with those.

Dont remember where I read the B8 was shorter but it does seem its aimed at lowering springs

Pretty much no one can offer a real comparison of the two since that would require both sets and then trying them out back to back.
Get the Doug Rippie custom valved Bilsteins. They're tuned specifically for the Vette and should be an improvement across the board over stock.
