Parking in valet - advice please?
We intend to stay at a big casino hotel that offers valet. I would prefer to park my GS myself with a BIG barrier around the car and armed guard while I am away. But that option is not on the table or realistic. I would be a nervous wreck leaving the car in public parking which to me is not an option. So, valet will be the choice hoping it will be parked in front near the main entry next to the exotics. Any advice on turning the fob over to valet? Any thoughts on how to minimize risk with valet other than not driving the car?

Either you drive or you ride with him to the parking spot.
A lot of these guys understand the concern and a generous tip will help make this work.

Usually if you tip them (That's why they're working) they will allow you to park it where they tell you or where you ask too & keep fob. I usually give them my cell # in case there's an issue.

I would not worry about the valet at a major casino...not sure what city you are referring to but if you are referring to anything in vegas you will be just fine...its a 60k car which would probably be in the cheapest range of the cars they park considering all the germans and exotics that pull into these places. I highly doubt a valet is going to jeopardize his job messing with a corvette.

Great ideas... thanks much
I agree with you ... tipping, keeping the fob, providing the cell# in case of issue, parking where directed or riding with. All great ideas. I realize it is not a ZR1 or Z06, but to me ... it is the dream that came true. thanks guys for all the help.

Here is what I would do if I absolutely had to have a valet park my C6:
Leave the car running, put the FOB in MY pocket, and have the valet park the car. I would watch him like a hawk, and ensure he shut the motor off. He will not be able to restart it.
When I'm ready, I would give the FOB to the valet and watch him (like a hawk) retrieve my car.
But I have to go on record and say that I would NEVER let a valet park my car.

No doubt... putting a second Vette in the garage came with a requirement... Driving it, enjoying this awesome machine outside the garage and the fun on the road getting there...

I tend to be apprehensive about valets and my nicer vehicles, but ultimately if you want peace of mind invest in their services. Slip them a 20 (or whatever you are comfortable with) with the fob - I've been treated well every time. More often than not if I tip well immediately they just put it somewhere out front in open view with lots of space, without me asking.
Valets generally run on a secret system.... that everyone knows. $$$

I've parked in the self parking garage in nearly every hotel on the strip and have always found it just as I left it. It's just like parking anywhere else. I'd rather do that than have someone I don't know drive off with it. And it's free.

I would get a rental or drive another car if possible. I don't even let my wife drive my Vette much less an teenage stranger. We went to a very nice Christmas party 2 weeks ago at a hotel in Dallas where valet parking was pre-paid and manditory. We took the wife's Toyota and enjoyed the party with no worries unlike I would have had if I drove the Vette. Your call on this one...

We have been around this topic in the past.
Valet parking is safe in Vegas. Ask him to park your car up front and tip him $20 - $40, and your car will be parked all day and night in front of the door.
Also, the valet's make so dang much they won't ever chance losing their jobs by messing with your "paltry" Corvette.
If you are that concerned about it, take another car.

No way.
I don't have a link to the prior "umty-hundred" post thread, but the consensus was this would not be a problem. Of course one member had "his" horror story , but the OP in that one had a problem-free stay at the MGM.
