That is if the car only gets dust on it.

I have found that it will streak windows because of the wax film on it, so I don't use it at all on the glass.

Anyway ... to my question:

This duster can get pretty dirty over time, so I feel the need to wash it well with soap and water sooner or later. Of course, when it finally does get washed good with soap, the wax on the fibers is gone.

Is there anything that can be applied that will give the duster back it's dust removing capabilities once it's finally cleaned real good?

Thank's in advance,
Ron
The write up with mine says that the dirtier it gets the better it is. Ive never washed mine and they work fine.

My 2007 LMB convert has only been washed twice in 5 years but has never seen rain or even a puddle so doesn't get dirty, just dusty so only thing it needs is the duster to keep it looking new.

This picture was recently taken and the car had not been washed in over a year only used a duster:

Same with me I very rarely ever wash my cars. I always use the duster on it when I take it out of the garage.

Walmart usually has the best price but they are sold all over. Buy the larger model.

all three of mine are over 5 years old.. no problems.

if you prepped it right, ie: place it on newspaper in direct sunlight for 48 hrs.. the wax film should not be streaking your windows...
Where do you live that you have direct sunlight for 48 hours?

I too have several these, and the tag says o.k. to wash them in Woolite from time to time. Did this once, and seemed to work fine. Mine have plastic handles that tend to break rather easily if whacked on things to shake out, so need to be careful. I also have the smaller dash dusters that work well for house/office furniture too. I picked up a couple generic JMK Sales ones at the hardware store for a few bucks to use around the office, and very similar.

"HOW DO I CLEAN MY DUSTER?

BECAUSE OF A SPECIAL PERMANENTLY BAKED IN PARAFFIN TREATMENT, THE ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA DUSTERS ARE MADE TO PROVIDE YEARS OF EFFECTIVE SERVICE WITHOUT THE NEED FOR CLEANING. SIMPLY SHAKE THEM OUT BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE. THE "DIRTIER" THEY GET THE BETTER THEY WORK."

From their site.

Exactly.

Not if you use it properly. If you pass it lightly over your car without pressing on the paint it attracts the dust without scratching. Any dirt stuck to the paint is removed using detail spray and a microfiber cloth after. I have used these dusters for years and never had a problem, and I have florescent lights in my garage so if there were any scratches I would see them.
