How many Vette owners are former TA folks?
I hate the TA was not built, but there was a better plan for me, little did I know it would be a Vette. Really never considered owning a Vette till last year and now have a new automotive mistress in my life and take great pride in being a Vette owner.
I have to admit I’m a Vette owner by happenstance. Pontiac stopped making the Trans Am in 2002 and then closed down Pontiac in 2010. I was pretty put out that there was never a TA twin to go along with the Camaro…had there been, who knows I might not have found my wonderful Black/Red/Black Convertible.
So, I’m left wondering …who else is now a Vette owner for the same reasons?

I had a 1996 metallic blue Trans Am. Bought it new in Germany when I was a 1LT. Never had any notable problems with it, except for an a/c compressor that went out. I loved that car. It was beautiful, curvey in all the right ways. I took it everywhere--including on little dirt roads to go hunting (once tied a dead dear to the spoiler!). It ran like a raped ape for 15 years until I hit a slick spot last winter and totaled it. Man I miss that car. Its demise did, however, lead me to my current 2008 C6 coupe--which I love even more.

I loved this car. A low mileage beauty. 2 weeks after I sold it, I called the buyer and offered him a large profit to sell it back to me. No go. Big mistake on my part.

In the 80s I had a black '79 T/A.
Great car. Until I got into vettes, it was the funnest car I had ever owned. My best friend totaled it when I was a freshman in college.
Yanked out the engine and put it into a Silverado half-ton that I bought cheap cuz it had a blown engine. Fun truck that was.
The 400 V8 didn't make crazy hp - but it did make good torque.

I've still got my 750hp 79 TransAm. In fact I just started it up a few mins ago. Was gonna take it out earlier today, but ran out of time. Love the smell of that 110 Sunoco.

I had an 80 T/A before I bought my first Vette. I traded it for an 82 Collector Edition. I added an 86 T/A later on and then traded it for an 89 Vette convertible. I almost bought a 2001 WS6 but went with a C5 instead.

My 3rd car was a '78 Trans/Am. It was the the Y88 "Solar Gold" T/A, had a Pontiac 400 in it. Actually a kind of rare car I guess, they came pretty much loaded. Also had a white T-topped '85 that I put a 355 in, 5 speed manual. Had both of these cars before I turned 18 though.

I never owned one, but my dad had the 1980 turbo Indy pace car just like the picture you posted and I loved that car. He actually just sold it last year with less the 60 thousand miles on it and it was in awesome shape. I got to drive it a few times when I was younger and man did I think I was king of the road in that car. Little did I know I would own a corvette Grand Sport 20+ years later.
