Default Windshield Wiper Replacement

I need to replace the wipers. Any suggestions on brand? GM OEM, aftermarket? Thanks.

Just go to a GM dealer and get OEM rubber inserts for $6 or $7. Easy to install yourself.

There are other good blades, but I like the GM best.

But many dealers sell aftermarket wipers, so be sure to ask for and receive the genuine GM refills.

The plastic arm that holds the refills tends to deteriorate over time, so I buy refills one year and the complete assembly next year.

When I had my C5 I went to my local Chevy dealer and purchased new Ac Delco refills(in blister package). They were junk. The two flat steel reinforcements would not hold the rubber blades in position, and when turned on, the rubber would work it's way out the end. They were not constructed like the OE blades and I discovered they were made by Trico.

At the same time I purchased a new set of refills for my Mercedes. They were in M-B blister packs. They too, were not constructed like the OE MB blades. I discovered they were made by Anco. They worked okay, so I went to Autozone and purchased Anco refills for the C5.

In addition to different lengths, refills are made in different widths. When looking for refills, make sure sure get ones that are the same width as the old ones.

My point is that even when purchasing refills from your dealer, does not guarantee that they are like the OE blades that originally came on your car.

I have 91K on my 05 C6 and only replaced the rubber inserts twice...And I do drive it quite often in the rain. GM part numbers 12335960 and 12335961.

Just did the same thing- went to local Chevy dealer and wanted GM originals- they have the little 'spoiler' on them (supposedly to keep them on the glass at high speeds)- I wouldn't mess with refills, purchased the whole blade assy for less than $9 dollars each.

The GM blades might be great for garage queens, but in the daily driver world, Icon and rainX blades are far far superior. I've been through many wiper blades on my previous Corvettes and those brands are awesome. It's the first thing I replace when I get a new C6.

Replace your OEMs with the Rain-X Latitude wipers and you will be happy with them.

Come to think of it, I haven't used mine at all this year! Car is strictly a pleasure vehicle and not a DD.

This is one thread that is useless for me. Only time my wipers get turned on is by accident, and I hate even this.

Rain X works well in my other vehicles.
