Default Rookie questions

2011 C6 Coupe-purchased in August.
1.) how do I display the time in 12 hr vs military time?
2.) slight "hiss" heard via speakers.
3.) rotors get an oxidized rust on them post rain?
4.) how much is it to replace lower front effect? Often hear a sickening scrape!

to cycle back and forth from 12hr to 24hr:

start the engine
turn on the radio
push & hold the "H" or "M" button for 5 seconds or so (until it beeps)
then push the **** that controls base/treble/etc. (each time you push this **** it toggles the hours setting)

This information is in some model years owner's manual, but IT IS NOT in the 2011 owner's manual.

The owners manual is your friend.

Rust is normal on rotors.

Airdam is about $100 in parts to replace.

I have the radio hiss also. Have to turn it up 4 or 5 notches before it goes away. I'd like a solution for that as well. Very annoying to hear the hiss and very annoying to have to turn the radio up that loud to get rid of it.

In addition to the responses that have already been posted...
  • The rotors will show surface rust every time they're wet when the car is put away (such as after driving or just sitting in rain and after washing). The first time you drive the car and apply the brakes, the rust will go away.
  • The front air dam is designed to be fine even when scraping. It's not a painted surface and it's not damaged by the scraping that takes place when going into and out of driveways.

Radio hiss is commonly noise caused by poor quality plug wires. One of the first mods I have done to both my Corvettes to reduce this noise is to install MSD plug wires.
