C4 was the 1996 Grand Sport & Collector's Edition with the LT4.
C5 was the 2004 Z06 with a carbon fiber hood.

Sadly, I think you're on target. With the C7 just over the horizon, I can't see GM doing anything more than cosmetics.

Yes, I kind of hope this is what they make. The sky is already the limit with GS options, ZR-1 parts on high end Z06's, and of course the ZR-1 is special enough- They will make a run of 500-1000 more attainable cars (I hope).
I would like to see a super lightweight non-dry sumped plain-jane car with the Z06 aluminum frame and maybe a lightweight part or two with unique wheels and trim items. A 3050 lb coupe- that would be cool.

Well,whatever they do they better do it quick.With the 580 HP ZL1 coming out that will be as quick as a Corvette and have a back seat,I think they are shooting themselves in the foot if they don't at least start teasing the Corvette public about what it's going to be! When and if they do some kind of 'send off'for the C6 I hope it's not some assinine thing like the 50th was,A bad color combo and some deacals.
