Default So who else likes the sound of the stock exhaust?

I like the sweet sound of when the engine is workin', yet the silence when just cruisin', not to mention the fact that it doesn't draw the attention of Johhny Law. Which is important when you don't have a front plate. Has a nice snarl when driven like the designers intended, yet civilized when it's supposed to be.

nothing says racer wanna bee like most after market exhaust

if you don't like the sound of the stock exhaust, go start your own thread

Love it.

When you get revs up you can hear it fine.

On highway its smooth, and ZERO drone.

After a long day of drives, beach, or outing I want silence, cool air and stereo

I really like the quite but authoritative tone of my 2012 GS.

I put the M2W kit on as I have the NPP exhaust but almost always choose for the factory setting (quiet).

I love the sound of the stock exhaust. Have toyed with the idea of NPP, but I just like the fine line that the stock Vette exhaust walks.

Want to hear your baby roar? Just push down a little, roar!

Want to hear your baby's heartbeat? Just cruise, thump-thump (engine sounds, not literal).

Want a quiet ride with the wind and a little radio? Cruise control, sweeeeet.

Don't even remember the stock sound. Lets see i bought my Corsa Sports for the 05, Had dealer swap them to the 06. Same for the 07, then added LG headers.

BTW no front plate and never had a problem with my Corsa setup.

How about if we "kinda" like the sound of the stock exhaust?

No aftermarket pipes for me .. No Mild2Wild kit for me either.

Like I have posted before ... Install a set of 'collar stops' on each of your NPP exhaust actuator rods and you can make it as quiet or loud as you want during idle and normal driving. Put your foot into it, and the valves still open fully.

See, I kinda like a quiet OEM exhaust ... I just like a very slight amount of sound so everyone (including myself) will know the engine is actually running.

And no ... I don't like any drone at all driving at a constant speed.

If the only choice I had was bone stock quiet or loud ... I would opt for bone stock quiet.

I drilled a hole in my stock exhaust as suggested by this huge thread on the issue and like it much better than just stock. I used a 5/8" drill bit drill through the side and then through both sides of the pipes then sealed the outer hole with a electrical knock out cover.

Works great and you get just enough more sound that way, no drone at speed.

If the weak sound of the stock Corvette exhaust is one of the "qualities" you value in your high performance car I'm happy for you. "...nothing says racer wanna bee like an most after market exhaust." However convoluted that's an insightful perspective...you nailed it!

I've had 4 C6s, and they all sounded different. For pure exhaust sound, I think my '05 Z51 sounded best, with my '09 Z06 behind. never liked the NPP on my '08 Z51...

The induction sound on the Z06 at mid-throttle openings adds to the effect, IMHO.

Still, I like the Ford exhaust sound better; the firing order makes it sound 'meaner'.

Love just about everthing about our '06 Monterey Red Coupe...during a recent little cruise up the gulf coast another C6 was next to us at the light, it had a nice (not too load) rumble. Light goes green and we both give it a little gas...my wife turns to me and says "Why doesnt our Vette sound like that?"...........Corsa sports! We now sound like that Vette with no drone on the highway! Love it even more!!!

I'm quite happy the the exhaust note on the Corvette with headers and factory mufflers. I fail to understand the rationale behind spending over a thousand dollars to make a sports car louder, but not faster.

Corsas and most quality aftermarket mufflers do flow more air than stock therefore increase the value and performance gains of your headers.

Yup ... And that's why the LSx engines don't sound nothing like the Chevy small or big block engines either.

The fireing order of the LSx series engines really don't lend itself to the "Muscle Sound" most people are familiar with.

You can get the right aftermarket exhaust to make these Corvettes sound pretty good, but as long as the fireing order in these engines remain what it is now, you will never get the sound most are familiar with.

Just a fact of life with the LSx.

Maybe, just maybe as the this topic is about.....maybe they just don't like the SOUND of the stock exhaust. Maybe some people don't understand why you spent a thousand on your headers only to leave the stock mufflers on? I am sure you have an answer that is valid in YOUR mind, just like they have answers that are valid in their minds.

Most exhaust systems add 3-5% more HP...not that it matter's to me but it does add some speed. Very easy to install an easy to put the stock exhaust back on if I choose. Love it either way. Just like it better with the Corsa Sports.

Don't forget the stock muffler mod which can be done for about $10 and 30 minutes of time.

Here is a shortcut to the actual instructions with pictures.
