please bear with me...im resurrecting this thread as i removed the seats, zip tied the sh-t out of the connectors, checked all wire connections and still have the issue. also it should be noted that the seats in my car are not power and no one else drives the car so basically the seat never moves forward or back or changes position. ever. my question to you folks is this...
i read somewhere that when the red air bag light illuminates at the dash it simply means that the air bag is disabled. i noticed that it only tends to come on when speeds are in excess of 100+... so in my research it was noted that the system deactivates at 130mph because an airbag would kill you at that speed if the crash alone would not. so logically this makes sense because the light goes out after the car is turned off and restarted and only seems to activate at the higher speeds as mentioned.
long story short, my warranty is up in october and i dont want to waste my time at the dealer if in fact the vehicle is working according to spec and the light is supposed to activate at the said speed.
anyone have any more insight?
thanks

So far, no issues. Here was where I posted about it before, and there is more info that may interest you..... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...bag-light.html

No problem on the vette but I have the airbag light on my truck on and off all the time. A good bump or pothole will do the trick. I have fooled around with connectors to no avail. I just deal with it.

thanks dudes. do you think that a code is stored in the computer or do i have to show up with the light on?
and no one knows anything about the 130 mph deactivation thing? maybe its a rumor.

I have a '12 GS and the light goes on and off on its own. Many times I don't have to turn the car off for the light to go out. I will have to pay more attention to see if speed has anything to do with it.

I'm not sure if a "normal" code reader (like the kind they sell to plug into the OBDII connector) will display it, because they hooked up the "big machine" to my car when it was happening to me.

Our 2009 went briefly to 161 mph and the airbag light did not come on.

Over the weekend the light came and went numerous times. None were connected to excessive speed. Have to make an appointment with the dealer. More of a nuisance than any thing else.

Think I'll try the zip tie connectors thing.

Every time I've noticed the airbag light has come on was after exceeding 130 MPH. Joe G on this forum has a video of his airport one mile run and you'll see the airbag light go on at 130. YMMV

Can someone confirm if this is normal operation at high speeds or if something is wrong with it?
My 2003 and 2007 ZO6 never did this and both cars saw speeds above 150MPH.

2006 coupe, A6, Z51, replaced by 2009 coupe A6, Z51
Have been to 150 a couple of times in each, and 160+ once in each. No lights or warnings of any kind.

usually my comments here get me in trouble. and hopefully the mods dont interpret this comment as interfering with a sale of a chevy car...
anyway the car was brought to the dealer and both front air bag sensors were found to be faulty and were replaced under warranty... good thing because they are not cheap. they are the ones located behind the front bumper.
