Default tire recommendations

I live in a warmer climate in coastal NC. Long trips are rare so I am not sure I need run-flats anymore. I know this has been hashed before so many times but tire offerings change. Any input on Kumho, Nitto, Hancook? I see many recommendations also for Firestone. My Goodyear Eagle F1's are getting close the wear bars at 13,000 miles and I drive gently. Ideas?

"IF" you did want to stay with run flats, then I would recommend Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals RFT.

IMO... Yes. I am on my second set and like them a lot. They are a great tire at a good price. They are good dry or wet & they last a long time for normal driving.

They are the two things I hate about the Goodyears. Waaaaay to hard and no traction.

To bad no General Exclaim UHPs anymore, good tire for the price and I not a big fan of Invos when pushed in corners to much flex in the tire. I would look at the Hankooks or Continental for my next purchase

Take a look at the Continental Extremes as well. I did some web research and have been very satisfied with them. (I store the car in the winter)

Here's my take on street tires for the C6.

If money is no object: Micheline PS2's

If you are not a baller: Kuhmo Ecsta SPT's.

I've tried just about everything in-between the two tires (logged over 100k miles in a C6 since 2005) and found the Pilots to grip the best, for a street tire, but very expensive if you log a lot of miles.

The Kuhmo's are not expensive and grip decent for the money. ($240/rear & less for front OTD). Spending an additional $75-$100+/tire for something less superior to the PS2 (and no more traction than the Kuhmo) isn't worth it IMHO.

Have you tried a set of Hankooks? I been hearing great reports about their tires.

Default thanks

Thanks to everyone for your input. As usual there is no definitive answer. I may lean towards the Firestone since that saves having to pack all the extras for non rf's. Going to do more looking at the Hancooks and Kuhmos though. Thanks again.

its a decent performance tire.. excellent traction on dry. What concerns me is wet traction, although it has a fairly decent water channeling tread pattern, the tread blocks are quite large.. I would certainly exercise caution on wet roads, esp. in heavy down pours.

Ive actually had quite good luck with them in the rain. No slipping and sliding unless you wanted it....

I have a Z06 and I noticed a lot of these brands don't come in 325's.

I like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S + ZPs (they are run flats/ Zero Pressure). Of the other brands mentioned I have experience only with the Hankooks and am very happy with their permanence and wear.

Good luck with your choice.
