I looked to see if I could find a picture but no luck.. Back in the day we had a 67 coupe and a new baby. I bolted the really crappy 1967 car seat to the floor behind the console. She's 45 now - not sure how she ever survived!

Maybe throw'em in the trunk and tie down with the cargo net?

If the child requires a child or safety seat, it's never a good idea to allow them to ride in the front seat. Take it form a Accident Investigator, airbags and children don't mix. You might have seen what an airbags does to an adult, burns, broken noses, busted lips etc.

I asked all the cops in my Corvette club and the answer was the same. Think of a pick up truck, you can put a car seat in the front if there is no rear seat. I have a 3 year old thats been coming to shows etc. for a year now. I hope that helps. Tommy

Here is a caution from the owner's manual. So important it is in the same section twice.
A child in a rear-facing child restraint can be
seriously injured or killed if the right front
passenger’s airbag inflates. This is because
the back of the rear-facing child restraint
would be very close to the inflating airbag.
Even though the passenger sensing system is
designed to turn off the right front passenger’s
frontal airbag if the system detects a
rear-facing child restraint, no system is
fail-safe, and no one can guarantee that an
airbag will not deploy under some unusual
circumstance, even though it is turned off. We
recommend that rear-facing child restraints be
secured in a rear seat, even if the airbag is off.
If you secure a forward-facing child restraint in
the right front seat, always move the front
passenger seat as far back as it will go. It is
better to secure the child restraint in a rear seat.
See Passenger Sensing System on page 1-52
for additional information.
Here is more on page 1-52.
Accident statistics show that children are safer if they are
restrained in the rear rather than the front seat. We
recommend that rear-facing child restraints not be
transported in your vehicle, even if the airbags are off.
A label on your sun visor says, “Never put a rear-facing
child seat in the front.” This is because the risk to the
rear-facing child is so great, if the airbag deploys.
Sorry, but no infant is riding in my Corvette. I could not live with myself if something happened.
And yes even in a "regular car" with rear seats the child should still be in the rear seat.

Don't let me see a baby (<3 yrs) in a Vette front seat, not here. That will win me the toaster oven for tickets, AND a mandatory court date.
Use the SUV with the DVD player to transport babies.
Now, if you want to drive a child around a parking lot, fine, but stay off the street. Common sense.

I would not pass judgment on anyone who was responsible enough to use the appropriate car seats for their child.
I am expecting my first & I plan on using my car to transport my infant in a car seat, of course.

two points:
1. it isnt necessarily illegal for a passenger to hold a baby in a vette. it could depend on your personal situation, state law, manufacturers instructions, etc. It isnt illegal to transport a baby in a car that doesnt have seatbelts either. potentially dangerous? yes. should you do it? not adviseable.
2. holding a baby doesnt necessarily cause him/her any harm either. the primary/root cause of any injury wouldnt be "holding the baby", it would probably be the result of the drivers actions/inactions.
