Default Time for some new shoes...

Looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP for my 06 Z51.

Is Tire Rack still the best place to get tires and does anyone know if they have any coupons available? (or do we have a Tire Rack "go to guy' on here who gives discounts...?)

My dealership had a sign outside saying they match any pricing on tires and give you a $60 Visa card.

I asked him to price the Mich PS2 ZPs. He came back with a proce of $3K for the set of 4.

I told him he was $1K high, and he said he couldn't match it.

I walked into my dealer with the Tire Rack price and they matched no problem - I was uncomfortable finding and installer I felt comfortable with.

Seems as if most retail shops will match Tire Rack.
So taxes are saved. After doing the TR thing last time I'll go support my local tire purveyor next time. And get the lifetime balancing included in the purchase price.

Costco gave me a price of $1400, and a $70 rebate. Went to Discount tire and the total, out the door, (with tax) was $1332. They were very careful with my wheels, and it only took abut 35 min. Excellent service!

Discount tire is also a good place. I paid about $1350 for the A/S on my 08. I don't know if I would buy an A/S in FL though but that is just me.

I got those tires from TR in late spring for around $1300 delivered. I don't believe there was any sales at the time. (Very happy with the tires on my 06 vert, BTW!)

. 3 sets of tires at COSTCO and I will not go anywhere else now. Got 2 new front Pilot Sports on the vette last week $670 out the door. They have a $70 instant rebate if you buy 4.

The nice thing about COSTCO is that there is no annoying "UP-selling". Lifetime rotations, road hazard, etc is all included in the price.

P.S. I like the Michelins on the car regardless of where you buy em'

I was in a Chevy dealer in Loganville Ga. I had been looking and pricing tires previously. This dealer had a big selection. They sold me two Firestone Rfs for $10.00 a tire less then any price I found including Tire Rack. Maxi Price Chevrolet in Loganville Georgia.

Their wet weather performance makes them an excellent buy in FL, as it rains a tremendous amount there. A/S doesnt just mean cold or icey weather. They are also much quieter, have a less harsh ride and rated for up to 50K compared to OEM GY's that come on the car.

Remember this is still a "High-Performance" A/S tire. It will still provide atleast 90% of the dry traction that a "Maximum" High-Performance tire like the OEM GY would. For someone who has no plans to participate in trackdays or track events.. the Michelin AS+ will have no problem handling any type of driving you'd dare to do on a public street.

I have a Z51 with MZ6 tranny.
When I re-tire I'm more than likely going with Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval RFT. They're $1078 at Tire Rack and have real good reviews.

Try this link. Might get you right to the tire I'm suggesting:

The firehawks are indeed good tires. That's actually what I am replacing. I got 45,000 miles on them and that was with basic, non-aggressive driving. The Michelin's are rated a little higher and so I thought Id give them a try. But thats not to say or imply I didnt like the Firehawks. They met my expectations.

I guess if I had a Z51 suspension, I might spring for the PS2. Just
because I would always wonder. Not because I needed them.

I drive summers in New England and winters in Florida, and I love
my A/S. As mentioned, they stick like glue on wet surfaces, and
wet sufaces are the rule in FL right now.

I've got the Michelins on my Z51 - the silica in the compound makes them stick in the wet. I had Bridgestones on my previous car with the silica, same grip, so yeah, in the wet you want the silica, whatever brand you pick. FYI the Michelin ZP's have a not-so-rough ride as other run-flats - go for them!
