Default xm radio gets no signal after battery disconnect

car was in the shop for repair after we got rear ended.. repair looks good but on the way home the xmradio reception was cutting in and out. I reset it myself by calling xmradio and having the reset signal sent. Now I get no signal at all.

So I call XM support and they try a few more resets with no results.

I was told because the battery was disconnected I need to take it to the dealer to have the xm module reset.

Anyboby had this happen to them?

Thanks.

I have had the battery disconnected on both of my C6s with no effect on XM.

The XM radio module on coupes is located in the left side of the cargo area. Is it possible the antenna cable was either unplugged or damaged in the accident or repair?

That's useful information. This is a 2007 Coupe. The damage was on the right rear (mostly) but when they had it apart they may have done something or the accident may have as well.

So the module itself if on the left rear side of the cargo area...

Here's a link to Kawal's excellent documentation for installing GM PAL units. These instructions will help you pull out the XM Radio module and check the connections.

It's possible that the Theft-Thang kicked in, so you have to reset the code?

I think we're getting hotter... They had to replace one of the storage buckets (I'll call them) and I was told they had to replace the entire rear carpet area as well. They also did work on the hatch. maybe damage from the accident or when they were taking things apart and putting it back together the cable is loose.

The main guy said the mechanic told him the only cable going back there was to the lights but this makes more sense... That might be the case on the right side, but obviously the xm module is there as well.

Thanks again.

Wanted to bump this one up. OP, did you ever get yours fixed? I tried to activate my XM today on the used 2005 c6 I bought, and I'm getting no signal on my XM. I pulled the receiver and verified the connections are good. Still no signal. Any help?

took it to the dealer to check out this morning. I'll post up when I get it back.

I did the same and all connections looked good. I'll let you know.

Do you get any sound on channel 1? I'm pretty sure we are supposed to even if we don't have a subscription.

Also, I did have customer support do a couple of hard resets that they thought might work - you may want to try that as well. At least to feel like you've tried it all.

I'll let you know when I see what the verdict is with mine.

By the way, congratulations on the purchase! My 2007 was my first and I fall in love again every time I drive it.

I like the color (it looks silver like mine)

I get no sound on channel 1. Top of the screen says "No Signal" regardless of what channel I'm on, including #1.

Thanks

I get a call from Carol at the dealer - "You need a new right mirror...".

The antenna for the xm radio, at least in my 2007 coupe, is in the right mirror of all places.

It will get fixed under extended warranty. They'll call after part comes in and they paint it.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the info. Hope it works for ya. The antenna on my car is in the center of the roof halo/b pillar on top. I think I'm about to the point where I'm gonna just scrap the XM idea and load up on CDs from my iTunes. Frustrating, but I'm scared to even think of what a dealer may charge me to get it working.

IIRC, there are actually two XM antennas in your car, one in each mirror.

Experts will be along soon to confirm or deny that.
