Default Grand Sport Rims on Base C6?

Anyone know or have tried to put C6 GS Rims on a Base C6? Just a direct swap? Thanks.

They'll stick out from the fenders about an inch. They are the same size and fitment as the Z06 wheels which look like this with OEM size tires.

Bolt-on, yes... fit, no. The GS wheels are the same diameters, widths, and offsets as stock Z06 wheels. They will not fit- at least not completely.

The front wheels will fit under your stock fenders provided you stay with the stock base-car width 245 series front tires. The 245's will mount to the front GS width wheels without issue. The rear wheels however will protrude beyond your fenders regardless of tire selection.

The only successful way to fit GS wheels to your narrow-bodied car would be to convert to a wider rear fender, either through a GS/Z06/ZR1 rear fender set, or by installing over-flares from a company such as Specter Werks. In this configuration, you can mount however wide a rear tire you please, yet will still be limited to a 245 up front for stock fender clearance.

***Edit: Talon beat me to it.

Will they rub at all when turning?! I kind of like the way they look when they stick out... I mostly just want a set for the track

I wonder if you could tuck those in by taking 1" off the rims by sending them to Welcraft?
I like the look of the GrandSport rims but don't want aftermarket and don't really want a widebody.

Do you guys think they would fit with 1" removed? We already know that you can run 325s with 11" rims so the question is will they tuck under the fenders?

This is my question. I have no problem with how this looks, kind of like it actually. If it's not going to contact or damage the fenders in any way I'd do this no sweat.

If the car bottoms out, I would think the fenders would get damaged. That's why they should tuck under the fenders...or get wider fenders/flares or something. You're also going to be tossing debris everywhere and probably damage your paint with tires sticking out like that.

The C5Z06 rear wheels will go on a base C6 and do just fine. On track, you're not likely to turn sharply enough ever to get close to lock where there might be possible rubbing (depending on tire width you select).

TSW 10.5" rears also will fit on both front and rear of a C6.

Vorshlag has already done the research and has some spec C5/C6 narrow body 18x11" wheels from Forgestar with the proper offsets. That is the widest possible wheel you can get on a C6 coupe without causing issues.

'talon90' made that post you are asking about back in 2011 (that's 11 years ago) ... I doubt you will be getting an answer to your question.

a msg from their website…

After 16 years of selling wheels from a dozen different brands, countless hours spec'ing out max fitment widths, and too many wheels sold to count - we have finally given up. We are no longer selling wheels, for numerous reasons. Please do not contact us with wheel and tire questions.

Thank you,
Vorshlag

I think it depends on your suspension. I currently have GS wheels on my 06 base with wide quarters in the rear and stock up front. My car has the Z51 suspension and is stock height. I have several thousand miles on it like this with no issues. Tires are 275 front and 325 rear. Rear of course is no issue. I think if you have soft suspension, you could have issues.
