Once on my GMC truck. It was the switch sticking on the brake pedal. Reached down there, and wiggled it. Never happened again. Maybe your issue? Good luck.

Hi there
not sure if this could help or if the cruise is the same, but i had the same trouble on my C5. Previous member is right, it was the switch on the brake pedal. It's a quite simple adjustment. You get down and the switch is at the start of the pedal.
To make sure it is the same problem, try to engage the cruise and lift the brake pedal a bit towards you. Even if you dn't feel it, this might be enough for the switch not to work. If the cruise engage when you lift the pedal, it will tell you it is the swicth.
Hope it coul help
Cheers !

it is an A-6,,,
not sure what to do,I cannot repeat the problem.Next time it happens I will try the brake trick, but when it was not working I did tap the brakes a few times to no avail, but never lifted the peddle.I had just pulled off the road for a rest stop, and when I went to leave it felt like the transmission was stuck in a higher gear then first. The car was bogging,so I lifted my foot off gas peddle and when I pushed back down it was ok,,,never thought anymore about it.Then when I went to use the cruise it would not work, tapped the brake a few times them even did a rolling restart,,,nothing.(could the two be related?)The next day all was fine.Is it possible my battery is getting weak,I have read that a failing battery can cause all kinds of weird things to happen???
thanks,
thanks,

Usually the clutch or brake switch is having issues. There's also anything that sets codes for the Active Handling system such as steering wheel position sensor, wheel spin sensors and so on.

happened on mine 2-3 years ago, as far as I can remember it lasted a couple of days and by the time I took it to the dealer it was gone - didn't happen again, no adjustments nothing, just went away

Looks like it takes a scan tool...otherwise simple:
#07-07-30-006: Information on Control Solenoid Valve and Transmisison Control Solenoid Module Assembly Cleaning Procedure for Various Six-Speed HYDRA-MATIC Automatic Transmissions when MIL/DTCs Set - (Mar 27, 2007)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SI diagnostics for many of the performance DTCs that can be set by these transmissions direct that control solenoid valve and transmission control solenoid module assembly cleaning should be performed as part of circuit/system testing.
Perform Bulletin Cleaning Procedure For The Following DTCs
Perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Cleaning in an attempt to clean or free up a potential sticking valve of dirt or debris for the following DTCs :
• DTC P0741: Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) - Stuck Off
• DTC P0742: Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) - Stuck On
• DTC P0751: Shift Solenoid (SS) 1 Valve Performance - Stuck Off
• DTC P0752: Shift Solenoid (SS) 1 Valve Performance - Stuck On
• DTC P0756: Shift Solenoid (SS) 2 Valve Performance - Stuck Off
• DTC P0776: Clutch Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid 2 - Stuck Off
• DTC P0777: Clutch Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid 2 - Stuck On
• DTC P0796: Clutch Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid 3 - Stuck Off
• DTC P0797: Clutch Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid 3 - Stuck On

Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Solenoid Module Assembly Cleaning
The control solenoid (w/body and TCM) valve assembly cleaning procedure is a specific software based routine, which resides in the TCM. This procedure is activated by the scan tool and is used to cycle the solenoids and valves in the control solenoid valve assembly in an attempt to dislodge debris and free up the valves after a performance diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has set. When the cleaning procedure is completed, the DTC enable criteria should be run again to see if the DTC concern has been corrected.
- Operate the transmission to achieve 70°- 90°C (158° - 194°F).
- With a scan tool, select the Service Cleaning Procedure. Initiate the cleaning procedure.
- When the cleaning procedure is completed, shut OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.
- Restart the engine and operate the vehicle based on the criteria specified in Conditions for Running the DTC.
- Observe if the applicable DTC(s) has run and passed to verify if the cleaning procedure was effective.

Yep. 500 miles on it and had a "check charging system" light on and no cruise. A dealer in Little Rock cleaned the solenoid and found nothing wrong with the charging system.
4.5 years and 46,000 miles later... not an issue with either. Even still have the original battery in "100-freakin-degrees-for-38-days-Houston"
