When you buy new you get the warranty whether you want it or not. You paid extra to get it, so unless you've had a 180 change of heart, I think you made your decision when you bought the car.
Also, you won't have to pay $20k for a new engine if it ever came to that. Some of the best engine builders in the country (HKE) can build you a better one for less.

It sort of depends on what you plan on doing with the car once the mods are installed. If you are going to use the extra power for drag racing or some other motorsport then the mods may be worth it since you will get something out of them. If all you are going to do is putt putt down to the local cruise in and once in a while floor the gas pedal for 6 seconds then it won't be worth it since you won't feel anything different than a stock motor will give you and you will have just wasted your money whether or not the engine fails. If the second thing is what you are planning on doing put some stickers on the car, develop a BS story about what you had done and enjoy the car.

Stock = lame, unless it's your daily driver. I've modded my previous 4 cars as much as my wallet would allow, and none broke (and 3 of them were super/turbocharged). I've already installed headers/intake/coilovers on my '11 GS and it has only 300mi on it, and I'm leaning heavily towards throwing a blower on it over the winter. I do all my own work and for me, anyway, it's all about making the car into what I want it to be, and the satisfaction in accomplishing that.
I've never seen a forum group as nervous about modding than here.
Do it. Make the car your own. More power never hurt. These cars aren't delicate or high-strung, and unless you or your installer totally effs-up, or you beat the **** out of the car, it will be fine.

not if you don't have $7K-$14K for IF the motor goes out on you. otherwise, it'll look like one of those bad jokes about cars sitting out on the lawn, in the backyard, or out in the back 40.

After reading hundreds or perhaps thousands of posts from Z06 owners I would not want to own the model. The stock LS7 seems quite happy destroying itself while on the way to the grocery store....you don't have to track the car to blow the engine.
I only know what owners are telling us. If they are telling the truth then we can see a clear pattern. Dropped valves, broken valves, bad rocker arms etc etc.
Though many report "getting away with" power mods to the LS7 if I owned a Z06 I think I'd be content with the stock engine. Why do you need more than this monster power? I'll not speculate.
From what I read from Z06 owner reports the LS7 is not really strong enough for serious power mods. Yes, yes, yes......some do it and have no problem. I know already. That proves some don't have problems while many others report they do.
I think power modding an LS3 makes more sense.

Some of the premier names in Corvette performance such as Lingenfelter and Callaway (and I imagine Katech as well) offer great warranties on their applications. I believe the LPE warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles. Racing the car will void even those warranties but that's standard in the industry.
I replaced my entire OEM engine about a year after buying my new 2005 losing the OEM power train warranty in the process. I track the car so I knew the LPE warranty was history as well. The risks were worth it to me....the car is a blast! In my case everything turned out well...almost 6 years and a lot of track time later my LPE engine is still going strong.
I suggest you look into modifications by Lingenfelter, Callaway or Katech and see what warranty protection they offer.

This is what you want. Ask Vehicle One, and get it in writing from someone in authority. If your motor blows up, they will replace it free of charge to you subject to deductible. Not email, but a legally-signed document. You will want that for peace of mind.

And if you can't get it from Vehicle One, why not ask your dealer's owner if he'll stand behind it, like his salesperson said?

A cate LS7 is $14,000 from GMPP
Alright guys, my car is a 2006, so I did purchase a Aftermarket warranty. Its 5 yrs/100k miles. As of now, I have 25k miles on my car and about 4 years left on the warranty. I def do not have a extra 25k laying around to buy another crate LS7!!! But, thats my worry...some say the motor won't go, some(very few) say it will.

Im not worried about the power (LOL....i can't believe i just said that, I'm def lying), I'm more worried about the sound of the car. I love that mean roar and idle of a aftermarket cam and headers!
