Proud to be a NEW YORKER w/pic
I grew up in NYC. As a kid going to work with my dad on weekends, as a teenager and young adult I passed the world trade center on a regular basis. For those of you on this forum that have never seen it in person no picture will ever do the justice of just how enormous the towers were. Last night at around 3am after a great date i was driving down the empty west side highway where the towers once stood, and the new towers are being built. Figured i would snap a shot as i got goosebumps all over my body remembering that tragic day 10 years ago. Seeing the amount of work that has been done so far, and the new freedom tower lit in RED WHITE and BLUE i had a renewed sense of pride. Anyway heres a pic of the new Freedom Tower thats about half way built. In the background are the HUGE becons of light symbolizing the twin towers. Not the best pic but its something.
Oh and dont get me wrong boys i had some fun with the empty road ahead!!!!

Beautiful building and sad that this had to happen to all those who lost loved ones RIP
I spend a fair amount of time in the city and thought I would share also:
They are really making great progress.

Neat story.
I have never been to New York. My mom travels to NYC about every 6 weeks on business (she is 74). She loves NYC and always looks forward to going there.
Have you ever seen the Spirit of Oklahoma fire truck in NYC? It was a new fire truck given to the NYFD, after 9/11, by a numerous people and companies in Oklahoma City. A friend of mine was one of the people that lead the effort.
Devon Energy is building a new 55 story building in downtown OKC.

I grew up a bit north of NYC--spent quite a lot of time there (family, etc). I remember the WTC towers being
built from like '68 --'71. They were monstrous...one about six months ahead of the other. It was like a race
for the sky...
I actually visited one of the towers once--went to the restaurant up top "Windows On the World."
Fantastic panoramic views of NY & NJ...nothing like it anywhere else.
so sad...we really let out guard down.
