Default If you are having door problems, read this

If you are having problems with your doors not wanting to open, please send me a pm. I have been having this problem for quite some time and finally got it fixed. The LED light would blink but the door would not open, from the outside or inside and the window would not go up or down.

If this sounds like the problem you are having, maybe I can help.

Reggie,

Why wouldn't you just post what your solution is in this thread rather than asking members to PM you? Three years from now if someone is searching for a solution to a problem that you could have helped with you may not even be a member any longer.

Might just be me but I always like to see members helping members with issues.

Just my .02. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Unless you are going to apply for a patent on the solution, please share.

Sorry, not trying to corner the market on this. I will make it short. My driver side door would not open on occasion (from inside or outside), window would not work, nor the door locks. Replaced inside button and outside pad. Did not solve the problem. Took it to a local dealer, and as luck would have it, it messed up while he was looking at it. Computer inside door was locking up.

The fix: replace inside door module and window regulator (all one unit evidently).

The tech said it is quite a job to get the window back in the right place. Took him 2 1/2 hours. Problem solved.

That is what I have been saying for two years now. The outside door switch doesn't cause problems with the inside door switch and Vice Versa so if you have a problem with both the door module is the most likely suspect as well as the actuator in the door frame. If the window starts giving problems the door module is the main suspect. Switches are the least likely.

GMPP replaced both of mine about six months apart. One hour max.

Why is it you seem to always start your posts with "that is what I said years ago" or why did you steal my idea that I posted years ago or anything like that?

Ever heard that sometimes great minds think alike?

I've had nearly the same problem that firecop90conv describes except my window does index down so I don't think it's the inside door module/window regulator in my case. While the problem slowly developed over the past few months, I didn't take it into the dealer as I thought it was too intermittent or indicative of a dying battery. But the problem never did affect the passenger door and came back shortly after I replaced the battery (that had died) and, unfortunately, several weeks after my standard warranty coverage ended. So I decided to try cleaning before replacing the door latch/door lock mechanism. I posted what I did and my results (successful, so far, after one week usage, unlike previous cleaning/lube attempts) under a separate, more related but slightly older thread: c6-corvette-general-discussion/2697348-driver-door-wont-open-fixed.html

I had exactly the same symptoms when the car was about 9 months old. Red light would flash but windows would not index and door wouldn't open. Replaced the FOB battery. 4 years later it is still working.

There are a lot of things that can cause this issue. To identify the failed component you need more information than just the door won't open. Do a search.
