C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Move to Tx and you would not drive your car for half the year. Too hot for top down driving. I have had both, 2005 coupe, 2006 Vert and now a 2007 coupe.
Coupe is best in our Tx he!!.

for the OP: I think it really depends on what you want to use the car for ... Some people use them for warm weather, weekend cruisers / other people build them up for show cars / some people like them as daily drivers / and some people want to modify them for speed demon fun on the track
All reasons are cool ideas
It really just depends on how -you- want to use the car
If you want a Convertible= GO FOR IT
My '08 'Vert is the first Convertible I've ever owned, and I'm having a blast in it

On my 6th Vette coupe over many years. Only had the top off once in all those years. A piece of dust flew in and I freaked. Seriously, I just don't like wind, sun, (roasting my a** on black leater seats) and of course, dust.

no thanx! I don't even take my targa off, ever... the sun beating down on you sucks. My car and house has air conditioning, there is a reason for that - I like to be comfortable...

There's my answer.
A sports car should be about performance first, luxury second. Make no mistake about it, having a convertible or removable top is a luxury feature. It adds weight to the vehicle, it decreases stiffness & rigidty.. and it is not always aerodynamically efficient. The #1 reason I chose the coupe over the Vert was so I could hit the racetrack with my Vette.
If you want all out performance.. you have a fixed roof. One of the things I like about the Z06 is the fixed roof. It shows that the car's priority is absolute performance.. and not just another poser sports car.

I live in Tucson with 350 sunny days a year and the top on my convert is rarely ever up. I have gone many times 2-3 months and never once had the top up.
Been driving Corvette converts since 1959 and even for the time I lived in Minnesota I had the top down whenever the weather allowed. Moved to Tucson in 1982 and have been enjoying top down weather ever since.
To me a removable pop top coupe is much closer to the feeling of a sunroof car then a convert. I would bet that most coupe owners seldom if ever take the top off because it is just to big a hassle to go through the process. 20 out of the 25 vettes I have owned have been converts.

Given that the vast majority of vette owners are old men I vote for keeping the tops on!

40 degrees to 95 degrees the top is down. It comes up to park and if it rains. Otherwise it is a daily driver to be enjoyed. The heater and air both work just fine even with the top down. I still believe it is a sports car and much easier to put the top up than a Cobra.

Where do you get your definition? From the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
a low small usually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving
Don't see anything about it having to be a convertable.

all sport cars should be red, have a manual tranny and be a convertible so for me 2 out of 3 ain't bad. For me an old fart and my wife top down 90% of the time. When its hot wear a hat & crank up the air and when its cold turn on those heated seats
