keys locked in 2006 corvette

Drifting
I received a call last week from the friend who bought my C5. He said, "Lou, you saved me yesterday". What happened was that he closed the hatch with his jacket and fob in it. All the doors were locked. After about fifteen minutes of contemplation, he resigned himself to calling AAA. Before the connection was made, he remembered that I showed him where I had a key taped to the car (Go figure the best place to hide yours). As careful as we are, there will be a time when you're faced with the situation.
As mentioned, find the best place on the car to tape your key. First, I wrapped it in Saran wrap and then wrapped it in aluminum foil. Secure it to your secret location with duct tape. You never know when you'll need the "lifeline".

well when I locked the keys in my car..the first hing I did was a google search and came upon this message board. I registered and asked for help. I didn't know that I should I registered and posted before I had a problem...
Thanks to all that tried to help.
I ended up calling AAA and they got my keys in about 5 minutes.
Today I will go out and get a spare.

I have set my key with FOB in the cup holder and shut the engine off and gotten out of the car, closed the door and the horn chrips w/o the doors locking as a reminder that the FOB was left in the car.
Guess a purse is different...blocks the signal.

Safety Car
Something else that needs to be added to this thread. Starting with 2007 models.. the car comes with Emergency Roadside service straight from GM. Towing, tire changes, jumpstarts, and unlocks are included in that service. Not sure if its 5yrs or 6yrs of coverage. But dont be afraid to use it, if your locked out and dont have OnStar service.

When you get your purse out, program the DIC to signal you when the fob is left in the car. Ours blows the horn three times to remind us that we left the fob in there. There is adequate time to open the door and retrieve the fob before the doors lock. You can also disable the auto lock anf use the fob to manually lock the car.
