Default C6 Luggage Rack on Vacation {PICS}

Hi all

I thought it would be cool to share this email below and the pics as well with everyone here on the CF from someone that sent this to me. A Ret. Air Force Gen sent these photo's of his trip with me that he did with his friend to the Air Rodeo. Over a 4500 mile round trip (fixed.. i thought it was a over 2k mile trip). He used the luggage rack so as to get a little more room on his trip for packing things. Below is his email to me. BTW, the US 50 comment he mentioned to me was in all fun... he was doing well over 3 digits on the mph.

"Hey Bill,

I emailed you two batches of photos -- split them up to avoid overloading you -- which capture the flavor of our trip. Everything went well -- no problems with the rack at all -- except I think it and the bag slowed us down a bit on US 50. We had a ball, thanks for a good job. Cheers,"

Too many guys beatme to the punch with the "nice rack" comment!

Around here you would be pulled over for obstructed vision.

Understandable: A nice rack will distract your vision.

Cool..I better not let my wife see this pic or else she will have another reason to pack more stuff when we travel in our Vette Convertible

Wonder if that affects the power top from working without the Tonnau cover hitting the rack?

Does the job, obviously does not enhance the nice lines of the Vette.

On his car he has told me he has had no problems with putting the top up and down with the rack on. However, I have found on my car with the various racks I put on there is a good 10% chance based upon heat/humidity that the trunk lid itself expands a little because of the weather stripping. However, it really only takes less then 5 mins to put it on.

He actually bought it specifically for his trip. The look is old but it is brand new and waterproof from what he told me. I think it was from Saddleback Leather Company.

This luggage case on my car below is from late 1800's / turn of the century.

Looks like a great trip-would love to know his route!
Congrats on the rack working so well--totally fit its purpose and need. I love the "old/new" bag...plays it's part well.

I love the "Tower" pic with that 491 sign in the foreground....please advise him that the next time he plans a cool roadtrip it is duty to inform and invite us. People here need to GET OFF the internet and back onto the road more (me included).

Hiya

Not my car at all. Just someone who is using the luggage rack I made for a C6 Vert. He was cool enough to send me his pics on his trip is all. I have other pics from people but I thought to post his for now and his trip. I do live in S. Cal by the way. If you check out a previous post here I did, the black vert is mine.
