Carlisle Blue: not a good blue, but a great silver?
I think I'm a minority here - I actually like the new Carlisle Blue. But I think it's bc I see it more as a silver than a blue. I wonder if some of the bashing this color is taking is due to the name itself. There is a lot to say about a name, it has to provoke the right reaction, it's like a wrapper for the color. Maybe the main fault with this color is just that - it wasn't named right. In my opinion, the new color should have been called "sky silver" or "smoke silver" or "topaz silver" or even something fun like "burnout silver" (ok the last one would never work)... don't get me wrong, I don't think the name itself would make people like the color, but maybe it wouldn't be so hated if the word "blue' would be out of the name...
so what do you guys think, maybe this is a not so good "blue" variation but a really good "silver" derivative?

Personally I don't care what it is called, it just doesn't compliment the style of the C6. It's more of a Camry or minivan color that is perfect for a non-descript vehicle-not for a performance car. Everyone will have their opinion-this is mine.

I think you make a great point - it's a good reminder of the impact of effective marketing. Having said that, I still can't talk myself into liking it. I've seen it in person under different lighting conditions and I don't like it one bit.

I've noticed that about colors in pictures, particularly marketing pictures compared to what you see in person under different lighting conditions. I have not seen this color in person yet. From the pictures, I thought the same thing, it appears more like silver with a shade of blue. I'm not sure if I like it yet until I do see it in person.

Yup, you are in the minority, all right. And, that color looks nothing like BladeSilver. It is light Blue, i.e, Carlisle Blue.

We've been through this a few times. Most agree that they have to see it in person before passing final judgement. But overall, the consensus was

thanx, but the point here (which I think you missed) wasn't to go over if people like the color it was to see if the name itself has a part in their opinion...

My two cents. The name is inappropriate for the actual color as are some of the reds that really appear to be closer to orange or maroon. One of the things that I appreciate about corvette gatherings is the chance to see factory colors that only lasted for one or two model years and have become unique. Perhaps, that will be the fate of CB. That said, the CB looks too plain for my tastes on a straight C6, but looks great on the wider body GS and ZR1 models. It really highlights the subtle chiseled look of those bodies and plays well off of the wider tires and wheels.

I also think silver and white fall into that category
