Default Both low beam HID lights went dead while driving

I drive a 2007 Z51 Coupe and just the other night while driving back home both of the low beam HID lights went dead simultaneously and cannot be turned back on. I used my fog lights to return home. All other lights work; high beam, blinkers, brakes and interior lights. Tested the low beam lights the next morning-no issues. Moved the car later in the day and the low beams would not work. Has anybody experienced this before? What was the solution? Current battery is an Optima , fairly new and again everything else still functions.

I'm betting its got something to do with the sensor on the dash.

Well there's no way they both died at the same time.... It's gotta be something electrical. What I really dont know. Try and find the designated fuse for the headlights and check it. That's really all I can think of. Good luck I hope this is an inexpensive fix.

Check the fuse for the low beams before anything else. If you've never been into it before, it's under the carpet at the top of the passenger foot well. Pull back the floor mat, grab the top of the carpet and pull back. There's a rigid piece that'll come along with it that will give you some resistance, but should come out smoothly and flop down, showing you the fuse box map.

Your fuse box aka juction block needs to be replaced. I just went through this issue after 2 weeks of hunting for the fault.

if possible, try and borrow one for a day to confirm.

If you check your owners manual, you'll find there are two fuses (#19 & #21) located in the fuse box in the engine compartment, one for each low beam HID.

In the same box there is one mini-relay (#47) that controls both low beams. I'd start there.

It could also be the stalk switch. Do they work in either 'Auto' or the 'On' position? I'm assuming they don't.

There are 7 mini-relays. Not sure if you can swap one for a test. I'd look for the same part number on each and don't touch #43 or #44. The others are for wipers and rear de-fogger.

Seems there was an identical thread not that long ago. Maybe a Search will add some info.

Good Luck.

This past Saturday there was no tech people at the dealership so I must wait until this Tuesday for some answers. I did see the old post about the problem being an intermittent connection in circuit no. 1970. So this information is going with me. The odd part is the brief function of the lights when the engine just starts in the morning. So heat creates an issue, thus maybe being an exposed wire that expands and creates a short? I just don't know.
