Plant and Muesum Tour
Gentlemen and Ladies:
We just finished another plant and Museum tour. If you have not done this you are doing yourself a great disservice. If you own, lease, plan to buy or have a friend or relative that owns a corvette visit Bowling Green.
The plant tour is unbelievably rewarding. We have a pride in ownership; they have a pride in assembling one of the world's great cars. From every, and I mean every person on the line to the Plant Manger, Dave Tatman there is a spirit of accomplishment that is contagious.
This spirit spills over to the Museum staff. From Paul Pearson and Becky , to Lori, and Sharon in the Libray to the head of the Corvette Café ( did not remember her name – my fault) these people are awesome.
Sometimes I see things written on this site that disagrees with my assessment, but they are incorrect. I wish the people at my company had the same positive attitude that I saw. Maybe the plant and museum should hold a course in customer service. I will send some of my employees.
Thanks again to all.
PS Watched the new 2012 being built. I think I will order a set of replacement seats when available for my 2009. Paul, see I said I would do it.

I certainly plan on doing both whenever it is I order and purchase my car.
Those qualities you describe, those exhibited by the personnel there: those are the same attributes that made this country great. And they are the same ones that will help the U.S.A. emerge from its present "stupor", shall we say, and once again be a world leader in many, many fields.

My wife and I just did the VIP tour which was a retirement gift from work, they cleaned my 2010 while we were on the tour and placed it in the delivery area.

If you are planning a trip to visit the plant and the museum, take into consideration that the plant is only open Monday-Thursday, closed on Fridays.

Melting Slicks
Got my tour in Nov 2010. Was absolutely incredible to not walk on some catwalk 20 feet above or behind some sterile glass walls to look in. Almost like nearly being hands on.
Will confrim your observations about the workers there. They love what they do and take pride. They'll even talk to you if in an area quiet enough to hear.
But...... old traditions carry on. Union Breaks and Lunch and it's a ghostown. The line shuts down, the lights go off. Then like a space launch the tones to countdown restart of the line are orderly and orchestrated like a symphony.
At the "end of the tunnel" my daughter got called out to hop in a 0 mile, first time the feet hit the ground 'start the car' for it's very first time. A grin from ear to ear on her (and me) - Got a "Birth Certificate" too!
Easily ranks in top 10 cool things in life.

My family and I just did the plant tour yesterday morning. Took a little over an hour. I highly recommend it to anyone who has never done it. The workers were very friendly and seemed interested in doing a good job. My wife also was picked near the end of the tour to give "birth" to a new 2012 torch red coupe, and she got the "birth certificate" (like the one shown above) to prove it! Great experience!

I definitely want to take the VIP tour and was planning to do it next month, but unfortunately the factory is closed most Fridays, and that was the only day I could make it to BG. It is now on my to-do list for the spring.

Careful, my wife and I were perfectly happy with our 05 and 00 Vettes until we did the tour, all those Z06s and ZR1s made our cars look so "plain". Now she wants an inferno orange ZR1 with black wheels. This is not a bad thing - just a little expensive. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

"In honor of jpee"
how'd I miss this thread for so long? even a short self-guided tour thru the Museum is worth it, if you ask me. and I always stop off in the cafe---why?---because it's there and can't hurt business to do so.
I agree tho with Trout---the Plant and Museum tours are well worth the experience and time spent. as the saying goes, just do it!
