I haven't run a front plate on a new Corvette(C5/C6) for the past 14 years, but in Missouri, you don't get a fix-it ticket. They hand out the real deal, and they will pull you over strictly for a front plate violation.

I put a Top Flight Reproduction front plate holder on mine
Easy to install. No drilling of any kind.
Comes off with 2 wing nuts and re-installs in less then a minute.

Does anybody know what kind/brand of adhesive this is and where I can buy it?

I've been without a front plate since I got my first Vette almost 12 years ago and so far, no issues. Figure if I get stopped, I pay the fine, put it on and move on with life.

There are some intersections around here where the cops stand on the corner and walk out to cars stopped at red lights to issue fix it and seatbelt tickets.

Top Flight Plate Holder. Highly recommended.

The plate is only on the car if I'm driving across the state or out of state. State PoPo seems more determined to ticket for this violation.

I've been stopped by the local LEO's in my DD's over the years and had to either fix it or in the case of the Vette, put it on now.

One ticket on the surface streets in Seattle, but it was more about writing up a Vette than anything else. Guy was a dick.

Good Luck.

el es tu,

If you immediately ask them why they stopped you, it prevents all the BS of the back and forth that goes with "do you know why I stopped you?" They use that questioning technique so they can extract information from you in order to be able to use it in court. Its insulting that theyre basically asking you "will you admit to something so you cant fight it in court?".

ie: He could pull you for speeding, then you admit to a missing license plate and now two tickets lined up...

keeping the conversation to a minimum is key

good luck out there
So the dialogue should go like this:

COP: Do you know why I stopped you...?

You: No, Officer, why did you stop me?

COP: I stopped you because...

I ran my C6 in New Jersey for four years with no front plate and was never stopped. I kept the second plate in the hatch.
I've got it registered in Florida now and don't need a front plate.

I bent my up and used 3m double sided tape that I got from the hardware store to mount it....

Been pulled over a couple of times and the Highway Patrol officers commented that most vette owners dont place the front plate on the car. Technically it's a modified plate, but both times the officers stated that even though it's modified they appreciated that I had on the front of the vehicle.

He's refering to the factory plate holder. It comes with peel & stick on the back & it presses onto the nose of the car below the flag emblem. Pretty horrible looking.
The Top Flight bracket comes with 3M 2 sided peel & stick pads to attach mount but its of a type I havent come across on a store shelf.

With the increased deployment of licence plate scanners be prepared for enforcement to pick up.

I live in a two plate state but it is a secondary infraction which means they must pull you over for something else soon. My Speed Lingerie Bra should be coming in soon and it'll have the front plate attachment but I won't use it unless I have to. Otherwise the front plate will be in the trunk. Some states/counties/townships are more picky then others also. It all depends how much revenue they need. In NJ you might be ok since you are screwed with property tax.

I have a Top Flight Reproductions removable mount that I'm putting up for sale on the forum probably next week. I'll be out of town for a few days so I didn't want to put it up for sale. Just PM me if you are interested.

Forget the OEM front plate mount. It is ugly. Here is one from eBay that will not cost you an arm and a leg, plus it is removable.

Pretty good deal for $40

Its something by 3M, its blackish and it is super tacky. Without a doubt the strongest double sided tape I have ever used, and I have used their "strong" stuff available at the auto parts store.
