What exactly are you trying to learn about or what are you considering. Yes, the Magnunson-Moss act is real. What it basically states is that you can be denied warranty claim unless the part in question is the root of your problems. For example, a dealership can't refuse warranty service on your transmission if you have an aftermarket intake on your car.

It won't however prevent the dealership from asking you to return your car to stock before they will work on.

MMA is decades old. They can say an increase in engine power caused the rear end to fail. Different size wheels may alao cause claims issues for say the suspension. Best thing is that if you cannot afford to fix it then dont mod it.

so, the consumer has been aided in how they can repair and somewhat modify their cars, and can do certain things to their cars, the most-cited example being, buy and use a non-car manufacturer oil filter. but if there is a direct cause/effect or design difference, in a warranty claim the car manufacturer may win in denying a claim.

and as recently corrected, be advised that it isn't a "voiding of the warranty." rather, it is a denying of a claim under the warranty due to not meeting the rules and stipulations of the warranty including the design of the components.

that said, the MMA has helped the consumer, but hasn't made them all-powerful. the operative phrase, at least on here is, if you want to play, you have to be willing to pay.
