I sure wold appreciate a reference for the GM recall to replace the latches. My 2008 has the old style (roller) latches
It came out in 2008.The new latches came out in the first part of July 2008.I had the new latches put on in July 08,but they DO NOT do any good, same problem as the old ones..BTW my pops like Hell in colder weather also.I do as the guy that designed the roof and the new latches,he said to use Vaseline where the roller meets the silver plate. It works for awhile, then it starts again...Bottom Line there is no sure cure for most of our vettes..

My service writer at the Chevy dealer called me back saying there is no recall on the latches for my 2008 or he could not find one.

If someone has information a the recall to replace the latches, please post it.
It's not a recall, but a service bulletin.

Bulletin #08-08-67-013E Snap, pop, creak or rattle noise from lift up roof panel while driving issued on Oct. 27, 2010. 2005- 2011 corvettes.

BTW: Make sure that the nuts holding the pins and latches are tight, one of my pins loosened up a bit and started to creek. I tightened them all again and all was quiet. Good luck!

What they say does not work and GM will not cover the cost for a bulletin

What worked on my 2008 was:

After reading many posts on this topic. I bought the product SUPER LUBE. Found it on eBay and two tubes was pretty inexpensive and it was delivered in a few days. Wiped all the rubber seals clean then applied the lube to seals, latches and the seating pins. Problem solved

I wrapped the roof pins with silicone tape, and it fixed mine.

Go through it, step by step. Hopefully, most of them will not apply to you and you can skip them after checking. Then if you have the old style front latches, you can do the E-clip fix by mrtoner and save a bunch of money.

Otherwise, don't waste your time on scattershot fixes.
Get the bulletin, do the bulletin.

Our car had six problems that all had to be fixed, now the roof is quiet. The dealer worked through it and finally found/fixed them all.
Mine as well. I had the replacement roof parts installed and all was good.

I have tried several of the recommended solutions to this problem and found applying heat shrink to the posts has worked the best for me.
